    Cold treatment for baby??

My DS is only 3 months old, and is having his second cold already (thanks to me for sharing both times!!) So last time he had a bit of a fever, snotty nose and generally grumpy...we went to the Dr and they said there is nothing they can really do unless it prgresses to a chest infection.
So this time round we have had no fever, no snotty nose but a really bad cough and general grumpiness. I rang the nurse about the cough and she said e same as the Dr did last time......he has only had the cough for about two days, but it keeps waking him thru the night and his naps so he is really unsettled and the sound of it just makes me so sad for him!!
I know he cant have cough medicine til 2 years old.....but is anything else I can do to make it a bit better for him????

Oh im going through this to, Harrison has a snotty nose, red runny eyes and a horrible cough, its so heartbreaking, I did find that running the hot shower until the bathroom was full of steam and then bathing him in there in a warm bath, really perked him up a bit a loosned up his chest and nose.
Also baby vicks a dot on his nose, and rub some on his chest and back thats helping him too

Courts made a good suggestion with the shower. Steam up the room for him.
DO you have a vaporiser as well?

It is so sad when they are sick. Hope you are both on the mend soon

A humidifier is great, even just with water in it.
A bit of vicks or vicks baby balm rubbed onto singlet has worked for me.
When my DD1 picked up a cold from freshly immunised cousin I actually gave her a quarter dose of Brauer Cough Relief.

How old was she when you gave her this?
Im wondering if even 1ml would be ok

She was tiny (not sure of exact age but if you know when immunisations are given that will give you an idea as her cousins are same age but I don't do immunisations) but until she was 1 year I gave her a half mL at a time. You give it every half hour for 4 doses then every 4 hours after that.

If you have any concerns with your bubs flu, please get the hospital to check him out, especially with being so young. My little V was in ICU for a week due to catching the flu, turning into broncholitis within a matter of a day.
I dont want to worry you, but after seeing my little V go thru something that almost killed her and seeing all those other tiny babies in ICU going thru similar repiritory problems was a real eye opener for me.
I hope your little baby by gets better soon. Hugs

I'm having the same problem with ds atm too *sigh* Snot-noses all round the family actually - fun

I started ds this morning on some medication that our local pharmacy mix. It's a pain relief (like Panadol) mixed with stuff for blocked and runny noses. Works a charm for dd, so I hope it works for him too.

And I love that vapour capsules that you snip open and empty on the pillow that opens their noses.
