Exclamation Help I need to rehome my labrador!

    Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a gorgeous labrador pup. He is 5 months old and very cuddly and playful. Only problem is I have 3 kids but my youngest is terrified of the dog!!!

I have tried everything and introduced them very carefully but he is sooo fearful of the pup. He has never jumped up on him or been rough but a lick will set my boy off! My other children roll together with the pup with no problems!

Maybe he's not going to be a doggy lover like the rest of us LOL but now it is causing dramas in the household, with the kids not allowed to go outside and the pup can't come in!!!

It's a really bad situation for both the pup and my son, so I have no choice to rehome him before he gets to attached.
If anyone would be interested in giving him a forever home, please contact me for more details. I am located near Blacktown, Sydney and can deliver locally. He will come with all his toys, towels, blankies and food plus his heartworm tablets, lead, etc.

He is microchipped, vaccinated, desexed and wormed and came from a registered breeder (no papers) and I am asking for a small amount to cover some of the costs.

Please, please help me. I am sure he will make a loving family pet for the right family.

Thats such a shame that your DS is frightened as labs make great family dogs. I would LOVE to adopt him but i cant have a dog where i live. Have you advertised on allclassifieds? or even seen your local RSPCA?

I may be able to help. Recently there was an email going around about re-homing two labs and a friend was interested only to realise it was a hoax.

The lady interested has recently lost her old lab to old age.

If you would like to PM me - I'll be able to assist more on Monday morning after contacting my friend.

Sorry it didn't work out for your family.

Hopefully you can find a home for him.....Knowing CharlieBrownGirl, I'm sure her friend would be a genuine dog lover just like her

Have you thought about calling back the breeder. I am fairly certain (being a hopeful breeder of Old English Sheepdogs myself) that a breeder would want you to get back in contact with them. They usually have waiting lists if their dogs are sought after, and they would be able to re-home very quickly. Don't feel ashamed or embarassed about it. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we want them to. You would also know that a potential owner who has contacted a breeder has done their research into the breed and it wouldn't go to a home that didn't 'understand' Labradors IYKWIM.

    Good luck

    Thanks for your replies.

CharlieBrownGirl I'm not sure how to PM you...

MiniMax I bought the pup from a man living in the city, he had the pup in a small apartment with a tiny courtyard. He then realized that the pup had outgrown the yard. So he only had him for a month, then I bought him. I have tried to contact this guy but he never answers.

I have advertised him on some popular classifieds but it could take a while to find him a new home. Plus I don't want to give him to just anyone. I would prefer a family where kids would love him and have time to play with him. Or people who just have the time to give him the attention he deserves. With all the scammers out there we have to be careful.

I do feel bad about the situation. We spent months planning to get a pup and I felt it was the right time for the kids. We also spent time searching for a pup that would be kind with children. Finally I have found the perfect pup only to realize that my son hates dogs!!!!

I try to go outside to play with him, but my son stands at the door crying. I have tried holding him while the pup plays with the other kids and we watch from the distance but as soon as he comes close, my son panics and sceams! The pup sometimes cries at the door when he wants attention and my son runs to me in fear from the sound.

We thought it was quite funny and cute at first but now I think the damage to my son is done!!! He will see a dog and run a mile!!!

Ohhhh....Poor Puppy, and your poor little boy!

How annoying the guy doesn't answer. If you knew the prefix of the dog (the breeder kennel name) then you could get in contact with them through the canine association in your state. They might even be another one to try.....even to find another Lab breeder that would be willing to help. I am sure they would too

Good luck finding a forever home for your wee puppy. So sorry it didn't work out for your family

Good on you for doing the right thing

Labs ARE wonderful, gorgeous things but they need alot of work (as do all pups!) - I bet we hear a happy ending from this!

Whereabouts do you live, & do you know if the dog gets along well with other dogs?
