I have a random question to start things off......is anyone taking the Mini Pill?
I read the leaflet and don't understand.....does the fact that there is no sugar pills mean that i still won't get AF until my body is ready......or will this pill make it come?
Art - I know what you mean about all the teeth in this group - I will be disappointed if V gets hers in like 9 months and everyone has had them for ages already! I had to laugh about what you said about the weet-bix.....my DH got cranky at me a couple of days ago because i didn't rinse the sink and my leftover weetbix was stuck like cement onto the sink! That stuff is rigid!
Just a note - I really like this group.....I don't want us to crumble. Sorry to all.

Morning! I really like this group too. You didn't mean any harm Sanchez, no one did for that matter. Let's continue sharing advice like we always have. I've personally learnt so much from you girls, BB in general. Not sure who PM you Pooley but I'm sure their intentions were good and thought chatting via PM may have been more apropriate than discussing it in our thread.
Sanchez - I'm on the mini pill but no AF here. Woohoo! Touch wood! I've been on it for 2 months now. I *think* the missing sugar pills is the reason for no AF as I used to frequently skip sugar pills to skip periods (on doctors advice due to endometriosis) and didn't get AF - which was the desired outcome.
Art - very excited about using the jumperoo today! I reckon Izzy will love it. She just loves to stand!
Hot night here last night so DH and I enjoyed a few wines on the outdoor lonuge. Was so nice. Izzy went down so easily yesterday which was a nice change as she took a liking to being rocked to sleep for about 10 days.
Izzy is still fighting day sleeps and yesterday was full on. She only had an hour in the morning and we finally got her to sleep, in the sling, for 2 hours late afternoon. Much nicer baby after that!
We are about to head out for a morning sail - izzy's first time! I'll have to drown her in sunscreen. It's warm here already, going to be 39 today!
Chat later!

Janine, I forgot to say a big Yay for your DH changing jobs - it will make life so much better having him there every night! There must have been some very looong days with him gone all the time.
Sanchez, no idea about the mini pill sorry. ATM we are relying on luck, which probably isn't the most reliable form of birth control lol There is a little boy at mothers group who is nearly 11 months and is still working on his first tooth!
Hi all! YAY for a shiny new thread, I think we need it! I also love hearing how we all choose to parent so lets keep the healthy discussion going
Sanchez - sorry I have no clue about the mini pill. I tried it after having DD and it made me feel so sick, I didn't last very long on it No sign of any teeth here. My DD got her first tooth at 8 months so I'm not expecting Ethan's to come through anytime soon. Probably a good thing as I'm bfing and I also still remember getting bitten by a tooth, ouchies!!!!!!
Taurean - hope you enjoy the sail! Ethan is fighting day sleeps too and driving me a bit mental at the moment. He gets himself so overtired and grumpy - why can't they just go to sleep
Art - lol on relying on luck as birth control! We are too but as we aren't planning on having anymore children we probably should look at something else lol! Are you planning on another bub?
We are plodding along ok except for the issue with day sleeps. Ethan loves to stand as well and can sit up for a few seconds on his own. I reckon give him another 4 weeks or so and he'll be sitting up. It's so scary how fast they grow up! I'm taking him to the health centre this week so will be interesting to see how much he weighs now, he seems so much heavier lately!
Luck for birth control - good luck with that!!!!!! Art and Sangie you may just be gluttons for punishment!
I woke up the other morning and felt so nauseous.....and then i had a panic attack thinking it could be morning sickness.....and literally ripped open the unopen mini pill pack and shoved 2 in my mouth!!!! Doesn't even bare thinking about
As for Violets development - I think she may be in the behind stakes. She was rolling at 2 months but has completely stopped - doesn't even look like she wants to move.
She doesn't talk that much - all up i reckon she would only talk for 10 minutes a day - if that.
Sitting up doesn't look too successful - stays up for a second and then topples.
She clenches her fists an awful lot but i am trying to get her to grasp objects.
She is all about standing on her feet though - not happy unless shes standing up!
I guess i am not too phased....she'll get it in her own time. But is this really heaps different to everyone elses babes?
Someone told me she was slow the other day - does make you think...almost made me cry though!
Sanchez, she doesn't sound slow at all! That was rude of someone to say. A has been rolling front to back since 3.5 weeks, but hardly ever does it now. She doesn't roll the other way. DS almost never rolled but was sitting, walking and talking very early. They do things in their own time. Oh, and DS hardly made any sounds as a baby but was speaking in sentences at 17 months.
Pooley, that must be cute seeing F wriggle all over his bed. My kids are both logs - they wake in the exact same position that they go to sleep in.
Taurean, how did the Jumperoo go? And the sailing? We haven't taken A out in the boat again since the last disaster when she screamed her head off every time the engine stopped.
Sangie, not planning any more kids and certainly not so soon. REALLY need to do something about birth control, just don't like any of the options.
So the powers that be have now decided that it is good to start solids between 4-6 months so our bubs are now officially big enough to eat! Has anyone started yet? Planning to start soon? For us we are probably going to wait until closer to 6 months as we did Baby Led Solids with DS and it was really easy. Basically it is just skipping the mush stage and going straight to finger food. I am happy to talk about it if anyone has any questions, it is not everyones cup of tea because they can gag a bit if they put too much in and a lot of people worry about choking. Plus I am in no hurry to have solids poo nappies lol
I have a feeling this thread has lost Janine unfortunately. And all she was trying to do was help people which is what I thought this thread was about.
AFM, I think a hiatus is in order for a while as I have lost the feeling of comradery among this group. Thanks to those that have been truly supportive. All the best on your mothering journey, Pooley and Frazer.
It's sad that you feel that way Pooley (and that you have deleted me on FB but each to their own). I apologised immediately after 'sharing my thoughts' and immdiately dropped the issue once you had explained your reasoning. You raised a point 'I had not considered' (raising a point you may not have considered was exactly what I was doing in the beginning) and I took your comments on board and dropped it. It was never a nasty debate, merely a discussion. If I used the wrong word to express my feelings, as many of us are guilty of doing, I apologise once more. I'm not going to go on about it though and as you would have noticed, I had let it go and so had everyone else but Janine had to drag out everything again, stats and all, which had already been discussed. What was the point? How many apologies were necessary?
This has been blown completely out of context. It's a real shame.
Pooley I hope it is a short hiatus and you rejoin us soon
Even if you don't actively write...it would be nice if you could let us know time to time how you and Frazer are doing. I would love to hear how he is progressing and if he is in Pull Ups by his 1st birthday!!!!
Sailing was great! Izzy loved looking around at the scenery, for the whole 15 mins that she was awake! I popped her on the sling to keep her shaded (was only 8.30 in the morning but we were taking every precaution to keep her out of the sun) and she nodded off in less than a minute! Now why can't she do that at home any more? We might have to move onto the boat for day sleeps!
Sangie - no day sleeps is the pits, hey! Izzy copes really well considering but she does snap all of a sudden as she's over tired. So frustrating. Just sleep babies!!
Art - I bought Farex (rice cereal here in Aus) last week so we are ready to go. Quite excited about solids except for the poos! Tried the jumperoo but she's still a bit small for it! I think we have a while to go before she'll fit properly. Midgit baby!
Sanchez - I'm not sure that ODing on the minipill will work. PMSL!! I'm hiding under that chair with you. The thought of falling pregnant again right now makes me feel sick! So different to a year ago! As for Violets progress, she sounds very normal to me!! I can't believe someone had the nerve to say she was slow! Seriously, WTF?! Izzy is almost rolling back to front but isn't there yet. She definitely couldn't sit unaided and she has no teeth. She does talk a LOT though (takes after her mum) but not sure that's a good thing!!! LOL
Kellynz - what's happening with T these days?
Kosi - I love reading you FB updates about Ava!
Pooley - good luck. I don't know what else to say
Janine - good luck too. With your wedding and moving as well. My DH use to work 6 weeks on 6 weeks off so I understand how excited you must be about having him home more often.
We are heading back to the pool with mothers group today. Really looking forward to it. Izzy loves it and it really wears her out. And her little bathers are just the cutest!
Still waiting to hear about the house we have offered on. Damn owner is n the UK on hols and claims he can't get to a fax machine. In London? Is he for real?! Hopefully he's worked out we are living in the world of technology and gets back to the agent soon!

Sanchez, I had another thought - for the first 6 weeks while the other bubs were wriggling around and building up their muscles, V was strapped into the brace. I imagine that would have set her strength back a bit but she will catch up.
Pooley and Janine, hope you decide to come back soon. I really hope it was nothing that I said, I haven't meant to upset anyone.
Wow.. umm... alot has happened in here. I haven't logged on since the 22nd Dec and I come back to a little bit of unsettledness. Hope it all settles down and hiatus's are short!
A quick update on Ava for those not on my FB.
Ava has gotten her first tooth, and I don't think her second is far away. It is her bottom left front one. We have finally started to roll. She is still working out the way to do it, but has done a couple today, and I think if she keeps practicing she will be a pro real soon!
She has started to sleep less during the day, which is not great for me. I loved the few hours while she slept to bake etc, but now have to do it while she is talking and sometime screaming depending on her mood. She really is a very happy go lucky baby. I can't complain!
Hi ladies. I've fallen behind already, didn't take me long lol. Em had her 4 month needles today. It was terrible. The nurse dropped her onto the scales, it scared her and probably hurt, she screamed. Weighed her then she got her off the scale and started bouncing her. Emily was still screaming and me and dh were both trying to get her and she wouldn't give her to us. 2 minutes later she said 'she's not going to calm down, I will just have to give her the needles with her crying'. Then hands dh Emily and goes out to get the needles. Em calmed down for us. I HATE it when someone won't get my kids back when they are crying. Of course she isn't going to settle for a stranger who just dropped her, stupid woman. The nurse then gave her the needles in the same leg, less than 1 cm apart. Dh was ready to loss it with her by the time we left. Needless to say she won't be going back there to get her needles again. All that after the receptionist decided how many children we can have (will put in the boohoo thread tomorrow, wrote it all then lost it.) Emily was 5.7kgs with clothes and nappy on, 64cms height, 40cm head cir.
Em is rolling from back to front but has only rolled front to back a couple of times. She doesn't have any teeth. She still sleeps alot in the day but mainly in her rocker, not in her cot. She slept though last night for the first time in a couple week. Woohoo. I just hope it continues.
Art - I tried Emily with rice cereal here a couple of days ago and she was unsettled and crying for the next 24 hour. She definitely wasn't ready. I'm going wait until 6 months or close to before I try her again.
Sanchez - agree with the others, Violet seems completely normal. Ethan isn't on the move at all. He can roll from tummy to back but has only done it a few times and can't roll the other way. He can sit up for a few seconds and he does 'talk' a lot too (gets that from me lol!). He has just started to grasp things in his hands this week. Oh and no teeth yet and no signs that they are coming. Don't worry hun, if there is one thing I've learnt being a mum its that these bubs do things when they want and not a second earlier!
Pooley and Janine - I hope you haven't left us for good. It's been great getting to know you both and you will both be missed xoxo
Taurean - maybe I should try sailing to get my boy to sleep lol! I'd be willing to try anything right about now. Hope you hear about the house soon.
Art - no plans to start solids yet. I'm hoping to start at around six months unless Ethan has other ideas before then. I started my DD on the mush at 5 and half months but quickly worked up to lumpier textures. It worked well for us so I'll probably do that with Ethan too. What do you give them to start with for BLS? I'd be interested to know how you did it if you don't mind sharing? I'm exactly the same in that I don't like any of the options re: contraception. I want DH to get the snip but he isn't too keen
Kosi - seems day sleeps are an issue for a few of us. I hope Ava coped ok with getting a tooth!
Mum2 - good luck TTC!!! What a stupid nurse!
DH is still on holidays. So good to have an extra pair of hands to help out with the kiddies. I'm really going to miss it when he goes back to work next week. We've also had lots of family time which has been great. Went to the zoo, have had lots of picnics at the park and going to the beach tomorrow. Ethan loves being out and about and 'talks' to everything lol! He was quite impressed by the giraffes at the zoo, smiling and waving his arms around!
Well it is 4am and here i am.....Violet woke at 1.30, had a feed, was restless for a few hours and now apparently thinks its time to play. Very talkative and trying to suck on her socks......which i would think was cute - had i not been awake for hours and being the middle of the night
So she is now watching TV! I thought she was so good because she was sleeping through the night - not for the last 4 nights though, and now i am wondering if she has got herself out of routine.
Anyway that is my gripe - i am off to make myself a cup of tea.....or should i have breakfast? IT IS WAY TOO EARLY!
