Question Does anyone hang theirs out in the evening?

    Howdy

I'm having trouble getting time to hang out the washing - and with 3 kids (one having reflux!) I have a LOT of washing. I've even given up cloth nappies for the moment cos I just can't get on top of the clothes washing, let alone having 3 in cloth as well.

Because I'm having trouble actually getting a chance to hang it out in the morning, I was wondering if there are people that hang theirs out of a night time when all the kids are in bed, and then get it in in the arvo when DH is home to help watch the kids (there is usually at least 2 of them screaming by 5.30!!)

So apart from the fact they might get stolen (I can't see why people would steal clothes and wet ones too) but yes, anyone think its a crap idea?

    Hi,
I hang my washing out of an evening: but usually bring it in if I get time in the early morning. I find if it stays out too long everything fades, and the elastic goes in the pants

The best investment I have made is a huge clothes airer. I hang the kids clothes on hangers first to save room and then dry them inside overnight.

Oh, I do it all the time, for the same reason (not being able to leave the kids inside unsupervised, and it's just too hot outdoors) We live in a pretty shoddy neighbourhood and I've never lost an item yet! But yeah, it works for me, so I say go for it - if it helps lighten the daytime burden and means you get more accomplished in a day, it's good.

My mum did this all the time and we're all still alive! If it gets 'em dry that's the main thing. Can't see it working in a Tassie winter but during summer, no problems.

I do it all the time over summer just to avoid the clothes fading and getting all crunchy LOL.

With these hotter days we are having up here i either hang it out in the evening or put a load on before i go to bed & hang it out first thing in the morning

Only way we get clean clothes here! I also use an airer in the laundry but it takes way longer. Not so useful in winter but often I can bring things in the next morning. Not sure about anyone stealing stuff certainly no one would be keen on the faded and stretched out undies on the line here, lol!

Hopefully by the time winter comes I won't have so much drama - hopefully the reflux would have cleared up a bit, DD1 will walk outside on her own (thats one of the problems, can't carry 2 babies!) and it will be a heck of lot easier to negotiate with a 3.5 year old, nearly 2 year old and 7 month old... well.. here's hoping.. LOL

    Thanks guys

Oh and I do have a clothes airer, but we're going to be in fairly close quarters soon, PLUS, it does take ages to get anything dry here in tassie.. even in summer, if you hang it indoors.

Yip I do it all the time. Sometimes because it is just too hot to be standing at the line and sometimes because I forget I had a load in the machine.
I have never lost anything off the line yet (touch wood) so I will carry on while it works for me.
Do whatever is going to make your life easier babe.

I hear ya Mel - it used to be really tricky here to hang out washing - as I couldn't have my little ones outside with me (no fencing out back!) and I couldn't leave them inside alone.

So - my solution - I used to hang the clothes on my clothes airer (as I could do that inside watching the girls) then I would just take the clothes airer outside in the sunniest spot!

We do it often. Evenings are the only time to get anything done around here!
We kind of started the habit of washing in the evenings as it's when we wash the nappies (end of the day, after the last cloth nappy for the day has been used). Now we do the clothes then too, and on the weekends.

Yup, that's what I do Mel. I usually hang washing out of an evening while DH gives DS a bath. Otherwise I'll put it on clothes airers.

I do it all the time, too... my washing gets hung out whenever I (or anyone else here) has time, morning noon or night.

I prefer to hang my washing out at night and bring it in first thing in the morning to prevent fading. When the girls are having their brekkie, or just after brekkie before all the drama begins for the day, I get it off. Putting it away is another thing though ...

yep i mainly hang mine up evening also.... depends if I have time earlier that day then I will but like most of us, I do it when i get the chance.
Doesn't bother me if washing sits on the line all night either. (unless it rains!!! that bothers me!)

    Folding washing takes forever though!

I tend to hang my washing out mid arvo and bring it in late morning the next day, then hang a fresh lot out mid arvo...and so the cycle continues LOL I have never considered the risk of someone stealing my washing...I dont think anyone would want our crusty clothes anyway
