Aunt Flo & gentle exercise advice PLEASE!! Could be TMI for some...
Hey Ladies,
AF has arrived ... this time, she is a little different, this morning i was really heavy to the point of overflow and showering I am in a bit of pain from the cramps but they are ok to deal with - but its the incomfortable feeling im getting and when i walk I have to kind of hunch over a little so it doesnt feel like im 'stretching' iykwim?
My question is - to ease pain and cramping what do you do?
I'm going to go and have a half hour gentle walk and see if that helps (Lets hope I can walk that long, ive been struggling a bit this morning just walking around the house) but I would also like to try something a little different too.
Heat can be really good for loosening up tight muscles and relieves pain associated with AF cramps a lot too. Have you got a heat wheat bag or a hot water bottle?
As far as exercise goes, the walking sounds great. Have you also got a swiss ball? If you do, you can do some swiss ball stretching and light exercise using that.
Have you tried a hot shower even?
I think that if it doesn't get better, you may be better going to see your doctor to check all is well in there.
Hi hon I'd go and see a chinese herbal medicine person and get acupuncture, chiropractic can also help with bad periods and in the mean time drink camomile tea and put he heat pack on
Thanks for the advice girls. I took it easy with my walk, i done 20 mins then had a 5 min break, then i done another 10 mins, so far I've been feeling ok. I forgot where I've put my hot water bottle but i really should go and look for it. This is the first time I've felt like this, I give loads of luv n hugs to the ladies who go through this every month. after this mornings over flow AF was light, but now its starting to pick up again (clots n all!)
I think I'm going to have to investigate a chiro or accupuncturist a little more, thanks for your advice this is definitely something I will bring up with my Specialist
If you can't find your hot water bottle you can 1/2 fill a glass jar with hot water from the tap or you can even use a plastic bottle. Hope you feel better soon
Have you tried evening primrose oil? I used to get shocking period pain before I had DS, I've continuted taking evening primrose oil every day since he was born and they've been pretty good since. *touches all available wood*. Not sure if it's being post preggo or the evening primrose that's fixed it though, but maybe worth a try?
I know that won't make you feel better today tho hun, sorry.
You could also fill a sock with rice and tie a knot in it and microwave that for a minute or two. I used to just hide on the couch with a packet of naprogesic, so sorry don't have any other better tips. I did sometimes try a little "o" for the good endorphins, if you're feeling inclined
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Tish

PS Just noticed in your sig that you've been diagnosed with PCOS. I have PCO, and since I started exercising pretty hard regularly and lost about 4kg my periods were much better too (pre preg), just a thought
Thanks girls I found after my walk i felt alot better, AF was lighter and i didnt feel so bad. I will have to try EPO and see how that goes (Thanks Tish!) cos I can't let it interfere with my work (I work fulltime and I ha d to take friday off!)
Hey Tish - this is the 2nd month where I have had severe cramping etc - i think my body is changing rather quickly (i never had probs til now AF USED to be painfree!) I have changed my eating habits and exercising more, just have to motivate myself to do it EVERYDAY! ..
Im going to look at the c25k - i think the benefits would be awesome and I dont mind running!
