    Starting today... the new me!

Hey there everyone, so i've joined the weight loss support thread and i really want to make an effort to get myself fit and healthy.... i would LOVE any ideas but first heres a bit of background:

I have always been up and down with my weight, generally i was a FIT person with a big build and as long as i played sport that was fine but as soon as i stop physical activity (no matter how well i eat) i gain large amounts of weight.
In Yr 12 i was about 120kg or more , at the end of year 12 i lost quite a bit of weight and managed to get back down to a size 14 but over the years have gone from 14 to 18 to 20 to 14 etc etc.

After DD1 i lost 25kg and got back down to around 90kg (obese based on BMI) then found out i was PG with DD2 i didn't put on as much weight with her but the hosp only weighed me around the middle of my PG and i was about 102kg.

    TODAY:
Weight: 96.3kg (according to shopping centre scales)
    Height: Roughly 5ft 10
Dress Size: generally 18 but tops 14-16
    BMI: 31 = obese
    1st Goal Weight - 90kg
    Overall Goal Weight - 75kg

I guess i just want to give this a real go, i don't want to end up like my mum and not want to go swimming with my kids because i don't fit into bathers, have to be on medication for pre-diabetes etc, i know that sounds horrible but i look at her and i just don't want to be that person.
I don't want to worry about that, i want to be fit and healthy and be around to watch my kids grow up.

So i am a SAHM of 2 girls (15mths and 3wks) i'm breastfeeding and live on a 10 acre property at the moment, i am going to start walking to get the mail every day again, i am going to cut back on soft drink (although i drink HEAPS of water anyway).
I eat quite a bit of fruit with DD1 and don't tend to snack but if i do it's naughty stuff.
Don't use much oil and generally have meat & veg (frozen though ) for tea with things like pasta side dishes or potato etc, also have pasta's or rice quite a bit.

So how can you help me, what are your tips? I'm not sure we can afford for me to go back to curves (which i LOVED and had to stop when PG with DD1) or any gym for that matter and i CAN be a little fussy on foods.

    Hey Zarava,

I started 3 weeks ago (going into my 4th week) I decided to replace 2 meals and eat a healthy dinner. I did check out the low GI foods and replaced certain foods with low GI ones.

I cut out the junk, replacing the 'snacks' with fruit, a yogurt, nuts (afternoon snacks at work were the killer!!) and I increased my water intake along with more exercise (we have a treadmill at home) I also ensure I have an apple a day too

So far I have lost a little over 3kg (I tend to get stuck at the 87kg mark which is where I'm at now)

I will be on my shakes for another 2 months before I 'maintain' my weight for 3 months then get back on the band wagon

Good Luck with your weight loss/eating healthy - I know I feel much much better changing my diet & moving more

I have just started back two weeks ago on my mission to loose my excess baby weight. So far so good, I have been eating really well and have been fitting my exercise in.

Last time I lost weight, I used the australian version of calorieking and I found this really worked for me. I was pretty strict on making sure I was logging what I was eating and also my exercise. The forum over there can be fantastic for weight loss and exercise (it can be a little catty at time, but just ignore it) and I find if I have a question I can generally find the answer in the forum.

I have been hitting the treadmill (luckily we have one at home) and have started a running program. I also have a few dvds as well. I HATE the gym and once it cools down I am planning on getting outside more.

I find with DS I can easily fit in 30-45 min on tready while he is asleep, but I have also just popped him down on the floor in front of a dvd and he will happily play and watch me. (p.s. its hard to sing nursery rhymes while working up a sweat on a treadmil.. hehe) Once he gets old and is more mobile I think I will borrow a play pen to exercise while he is awake.

I have been 'trying' but officially start tomorrow.
I joined a weight-loss forum and also joined a 12 week challenge, so excited to get started.
