Question mince meat and snags...suggestions please!

i have a DH who wont eat chunks of meat. as in no stake but will eat (once every two weeks roast or something like that, which is fine...BUT i'm running out of ideas for what to do with mince, as he's not the kind of fella who'll eat the same thing each night of the week for more then two weeks he'll also eat snags if i cook them which makes things a little easier.

so far what i make is:
meat balls w/ rice and veggies
    hambugers w/ veggies or chips
    pasta sause
    sangs w. veggies
    snags mixed into rice
sterfri with really, really, really thin bits of meat

but i need some more ideas. plus i want to give DJ more of the stuff off our plate (hes a year old) but DH likes it spicey, so if i could add spice seperately that'd be good...im just head butting a wall cus i love, love, love my stake and DH's current idea of a "nice dinner" if he cooks it is 2min noodles with veggies

so any of you wise ladies got any ideas how to dress up mince/snags more then what i have...

You could try making a shepherd's pie using lamb mince - at least that would mix up the variety of meat and flavours a little bit. Just brown some mince and onion, add a bit of garlic, add a tin of tomatoes, some diced carrot and celery and some dried red lentils and simmer until the veggies are tender. If it is too dry, you could add some stock to simmer it in as well but the tinned tomatoes are usually enough.

If you boil up some sweet potato or pumpkin and potato, you make a mash for the top.

Once the veggies are soft, put the meat mixture into a casserole dish, top with mash and bake in oven until golden brown.

I could probably give you a few more ideas but what exactly does your DH not like about meat - is it the texture, taste, he doesn't like it tough? I was just wondering because if you know what it is he doesn't like, you could work around that and slowly introduce meat to him in other ways to try and get him used to it.

It is a good idea to get your DS used to a wide variety of foods and textures young otherwise you may end up with two fussy eaters You may just need to give you DH a sandwich some nights so that you can make DS food with some variety to get him used to it.

I just thought of something else - burritoes! I make mine by browning 500g mince beef and an onion, add taco seasoning mix and cook for about a minute. I add a tin of tomatoes, a tin of kidney beans and a tin of corn and simmer for about 5 mins or until the mince is cooked and the sauce has thickened.

Then I serve on wholemeal tortillas with mashed avacado, tomato, lettuce, cheese, sweet chilli sauce and a small bit of sour cream. I give it to my kids as a wrap. DS is not overly successful with it, but he is learning. I usually just give him a fork after he has had a go at the wrap and he picked the bits out of it.

I use heart smart mince because it is lower in fat and I find this recipe usually makes enough for 2 meals of burrito mince so I freeze half of it for another time.

Curried sausages??? You could make it like a gravy and onion first then add curry and cook a little longer for DH???

    Lasange?? Its easy to make

Poor Mans chinese - Chow Mein (this is my FAVOURITE) mince is the main ingrediant

And the best thing is you can make a big batch and freeze this stuff!!!

Pasties - you could make big ones for the adults (with spice) and baby size ones for your lil one. All you need is some puff pastry, mince, onion, peas, corn, carrot and any other veggies you want to add.
Brown the mince then add the veggies and pop them in the pastry and bake!

Pasta bake, you can buy the packet mixes and just follow the instructions.

You could make devilled sausages, sausage hot pot.. just to change things up for you aswell.

    Not sure if that helps.

Does he eat chicken or Tuna?

A couple of things we make with mince are:

    Tacos
Chow mein - the recipe for this is on back of Continental Chicken Noodle Soup packs
    Meatballs & spagetti
Bolognese sauce to make lasagne, pasta bakes to mix it up from just spag bog
Home made sausage rolls - donna hay has a really simple and tasty recipe let me know if you'd like it

I have a 100 ways with mince cookbook somewhere at home I will have a look tonight and see if there is anything else.

Meatloaf and rissoles are another option. Also in the Continental meal bases there are a few mince and snag ones. There is also a snag slow cooker base too. (not sure if you use packet meals)
Have you tried flavoured sausages for something different? You can get so many flavours now.

Buy good quality gourmet sausages and wrap them in puff pasty and bake. This make very easy sausage rolls and serve with a salad of roast vegies tossed in pesto(or other salad).

    Everyone loves sausage rolls!

oo thanks girls im glad i'll have a few more things to cook for DH.

he wont eat chunks of meat because he can see they came from an animal where as mince/snags you cant really tell whats what. but he'll eat fish as "i cant see where they live" ..and chicken...he wont eat after working at a large company who sell chicken meat (that a plant burnt down in Vic a dew weeks back) he wont eat it. so what 'meat' we eat in this house is limited, unless i cook two lots of meat up which i dont do as often now...
