    So I did it!

After forever (over6months) of thinking about it I have joined ww's online!

I was a dancer and dance teacher and when I stopped doing that I put on 40+ kgs oh my goodness writing that is scary! I have lost about 5kgs in the last couple of months just by hardly ever buying chocolate or softdrink and the breastfeeding chucked in there. In the last almost 4years since I got married I have put on almost 20kgs, which I have lost those 5of so I am about 14kgs more than when we got married.

My first goal is the standard 5% of my body weight but then I would really like to get back to the weight I was when we got married and then continue from there. I would really love to lose about 30kgs in total I think.

It is something I always hope will happen losing weight and mentally its like I think it is out of my control. The last little while I have been seriously thinking about losing weight and I have realised I will lose the weight at the point I make the decision to.

So I did it I have made the decision to be accountable to myself, record what I eat, make a decision to start excercising and to lose this weight. I feel like I have done the hard part of making that choice. I feel like every day I choose whether my future will be fat or skinny by the foode choices I make, and I don't eat ridiculous amounts just a lot of wasted calories. In fact I will probably eat more on this diet haha

I would REALLY LOVE so support and advice and encouragement and if anyone wants to join me I would love it...please be hard on me and keep me accountable...if you want lol

i think really facing up to the fact that you need to lose weight & making those first steps to make changes (like joining WW) is the hard part & you've already lost 5kg - that's awesome!sounds like you've set a realistic initial goal & you're focused so you must be in the right headspace to make this happen

good luck & i'm looking forward to reading about your progress & success

Congratulations on making the first step to losing weight! I too had decided (after many years of trying in vein) late last year to do something about the weight I have gained and let me tell you - it was much easier that I thought!

I too keep a food diary (online via Calorie King) and am seeing a personal trainer twice a week and have just starting doing mini (30 min) workouts at home when I can.
One thing my trainer said to me is this is a 'life' choice, not just to lose weight choice - to keep it off for life you have to do it for life! - good tip I thought.

I have also been watching the biggest loser and that is motivating!

    Well done again!

    Thanks ladies!

Sloane, yea I feel as though I am in the right head space and I have poured money into it now (although only a little) you know where your treasure is there your heart is also so I kinda felt like that would be the cpmmitment I needed

Rhicc I completely agree, sometimes I think wow 30kilos that will take ages but then I realise the time is going to pass anyway and would I prefer to pass it and still be the same or to be different. Also I realise I just have to choose today to be thin and healthy (i.e make the right food choices today to get me where i want to be) causing being overweight is something you actually have to maintain.

I agree re: biggest loser being motivating, I have really wanted to do this since the series started but it has taken me this long to get there in my head

Well day 3 today and forgive me if this seems a bit naive but I am doing really really well. I am actually finding it easy.

I think that a lot of my weight comes from really silly snack choices and also dinner portion size so I think guidelines and monitoring work really well for me. I love being able to go online and fill it all in an see in front of me how many points I have etc. I have come under points both days (I have heaps extra for bf but I am only on 2feeds a day now, ds2 is 10months so I think thats why I'm not hungry enough for all of them) I'm definitley not starving myself or trying to be under points just happening that way, so I guess thats really good that it shows I am easily following it and not starving.

For example last night I measured out the spaghetti bolognese into proper portions, which was a lot less than I would usually have and I couldn't even eat it all, just didn't feel like it so I had an orange to go with it (so portion size)

and then when I went back to clear the plates after helping dh with the boys I saw a piece of bread ds1 had had with his and I thought mmm I could go for a spaghetti sandwhich so I probably would have had 2 pieces of bread, with butter and spaghetti to a total of - 7.5points! and I would have had other snacks too so instead because I am on the diet I just walked got some rockmelon for a snack and wasn't hungry nor did I think of the sandwhich again, it was just the smell of butter and bread that made me feel like it but as soon as I couldn't smell it craving gone

So I guess it is just tiny little changes like that which are going to make a huge difference!!

Also I haven't had bathroom scales for years and have just been weighing myslef when we are around at my mums so I went yesterday afternoon and bought some and I have found I have lost more weight than I thought so a few woohoo's! I am in the lower weight bracket (as in just went down to the lower ten's) I am lighter now (only by about 300g haha) but still lighter than before I had the boys (far from my goal but still that is definitely a goal along the way!) and I have now lost 9.1kg since Spence was born...oh my goodness I can't tell the difference, people started asking me had I lost weight so I weighed myself and found I had lost the first 5kg.

So my 1st goal on weigh watchers was to lose 5% and that will happen, probably this week cause I put in the weight I was on the 18th feb (which was the last time I weighed in at mums) which I had obviously lost more since then.

So I am really really happy my goal after I reach that 5% is going to be to get to the weight I was after Noah was born (I had gd with him and was on the low gi diet and lost about 6kg in the last 5ish weeks of my preg with him (I wasn't actually loosing weight at the time cause he was still growing but once I had him I was 6kgs lighter than before I got preg so I attribute it to the diet)

    So thats another 5.8kgs away!

This is awesome I am very happy and I feel like I can really really easily continue this, the challenge is going to be putting some excercise into place. But a friend of mine has zumba she is going to lend me
