    Aching fingers and upper hand!

I am not sure if anyone can help but this morning i woke and on BOTH hands when i bent my fingers (even a little) all my fingers and the top of my hand ached.

I woke at 7am and it's still doing it, nowhere near as bad but theres a slight pain there.

Any ideas, it hurts more around the knuckles!

i'd get it checked hun - there are many many reasons - carpal tunnel, inflammation etc. did you drive home last night? is it possible that your hands are just stiff from the steering wheel?

Still there this morning, was worse over night when not moving my fingers for long periods and then gripping things, sometimes the pain shoots down near the wrist.

Am thinking will see how i go today but if still like this might gt it checked tomorrow, has ANYONE had anything like this?

It even hurts to pick up my gorgeous girls at times.

Yes, I had severe swelling due to borderline pre-eclampsia, and it was similar to what you're describing. It sounds like you could have a bit of carpel tunnel too.

I would definitely get it checked out rather than waiting to see.

do you have any pins & needles?

No pins and needles, just very very achy.

Haven't tried heat or anything yet, although did the dishes yesterday in nice hot water and no difference.

The pain shooting down to your wrist and lack of grip sounds like Carpal Tunnel to me. Do you get pins and needles in your hands or arms ZF?

When the pain 'shoots down your wrist' does it feel like an electric shock or is it the same pain?

the same ache, just bolting down to the wrist and in the joint...

1 writs is stuffed i broke it in yr 9 and am awaiting an operation to fix it (never set properly and pops out) but can't as each time they called i was either PG or BFing and with 2 tiny kidlets being in a cast for 8wks is not an option.... i thought i would have issues with my wrist but never in my hands!

Ok SOOOOOOOOOOo the Dr seems to think that my Vit D deficiancy is playing havoc, has anyone else heard of Vit D def doing this?

I was in so much pain earlier i was nearly crying changing Z!

He said if not that maybe Calcium def, he hardly asked if they were swollen etc just as soon as i said aching fingers jumped straight on Vit D.

    ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????

Told me to take Panadol for the pain and come back in 3 days for the results.

    Update

Got the blood test results back and as i suspected it WAS NOT my vitamin D, even though i have been lazy with my supplement my levels are back to normal!

HOWEVER he said my levels for rheumatoid (sp?) athristis were a 14, anything ABOVE a 14 is normally to be looked at, so i have to go back in 3mths and get them checked again... please cross your fingers for me that this is NOT what it is.

Does anyone have any info on this?

butterfly warrior may have a little information hun - she has a weird form of arthritis but has done a lot of reading. sounds like your ESR was elevated maybe - it's an indication of inflammation. can be up if you have viral inflammation too....

did the doc offer you any help in the meantime? prescribe anti-inflammatories?

if you are still having pain, i would go for a second opinion.
