Gawd, I would think they are at the point of offering him the job. I think once you get through the medical, you are set.
DH has applied for a new job and has currently done the following..
* Group interview/brief
* Physcometric testing
* Panel Interview
* Medical
* Drug and Alcohol testing
* Referees have been called
He has had to pass previous step before progressing..
Now we have received an email for background check. (I am going to write it all down so DH only has to log on and complete when he gets home).
Would a company really be doing all these checks if they didn't intend on hiring him (there is a group intake, so not just 1 position)?
Normally we would just go with the flow, but tomorrow is his last day his boss is in before we go on holidays, and if he did get the job, he will be resigning while on leave and not returning to his current place of employment.
So what are your experiences with these kind of jobs where all these checks are crucial to employment?
Gawd, I would think they are at the point of offering him the job. I think once you get through the medical, you are set.
In my experience, phoning referees is usually a pretty good indication that you have the job. I can't imagine they would take the time for him to go all through that if they weren't serious about considering him. It's never definite though until you get the offer in writing. But it does sound very promising. I'm in the same boat at the moment, have been told that they are very interested in me, have gone through the selection process but haven't been given the official offer or any paperwork so am trying not to get my hopes up! Good luck to your DH. It does sound very promising to me!![]()
Wow that is one detail and comprehensive interview process. Considering the checks your DH is going through I would say he is in with a good chance. I would definitely not be resigning or mentioning it to his boss until he has the position. If he has to leave when on holidays that is the way it is unfortunately. He can always ring up and make a phone appt and resign over the phone to his boss while on holidays. Best of luck for your DH.
We/he would never resign or mention anything to his boss without it in writing, but he would much prefer to hear officially and do it in person IFYWIM. After all, he is the leading hand in his area..
I think he said there were 12 positions..
The selfish side of me doesn't want him to get it cause I will have to go back to work as the training period of 6 months is a quite a wage drop.. But after that I can be a lady of leisure,
But the logical side really wants it cause his current industry is quite unstable, and this is a bit more secure.
My Dh went for his job working for Centrelink and had to go through all of this. He did get the job. Basically we were told if they send you for a medical, and you pass all the exams they put you through then the job is pretty much a given it's yours.
Good luck I hope he gets it.![]()
I guess its a way of eliminating people before looking at who will be best for the job? Very extensive!
Good luck to him though![]()
He got a phone call today..
The job is his, pending security check.. (since he has them regularly with his current job, not an issue), so we should receive formal offer next week..
He is going to clear out his locker out tomorrow cause his boss isn't there cause he works office hours. He has told a few of his colleagues today though.
Congratulations to your DH!!! Yay!! Good to here he didn't go through all that for nothing![]()
Congrats - that is wonderful news!
Congratulations to your DH - only 6 months and you're a lady of leisure!!!
Congrats to your DHGreat news
I had to do a medical for my job and I found out the day before I had the appt for the physical that I'd gotten the job. I've got my fingers crossed for a positive outcome![]()
