Well I'm 37 weeks pregnant and DH hasn't even looked trough a baby name book! There is one girls name, however, that I love, love, love and DH does too. I've always liked this name so I know that it's not just a passing thing. Problem is although we both love it we are afraid that it is just too much of a mouthful with our last name and just sounds a bit too weird.
yep, pronouned Sasha - I haven't even really considered different spellings as thought that we wouldn't be able to use it. Thanks for your reply...wonder what others will say...
TBH I never say my kids last name. I always say their 1st and middle names!!! So what would be the middle name?
haha and do what ever you like as I have my kids have MASSIVE long names
Annabelle Marie Yates-Brierley
Lucy Jeanne Yates-Brierley
Im never saying all 4 of their names, even when Im mad hahaha
Sasha is a name Ill always like but never be able to use
I'm a Sacha and when I married my last name turned into one starting with Sh and ending in y.
It was a little strange at first, but to be honest, it's like everything - when you hear it all the time you just get used to it.
If you love the name (and why wouldn't you? ) go for it. Or if it just doesn't sit right with you, what about a hyphenated first name - Sacha-Lee etc.?
I love the name Sacha but with your last name it is a bit of a tounge twister? However it's not that often that people really say the 1st and last name together so it doesn't really matter if you love it There are some names that we just can't use because they make other names when put with our last name so some times even though you love a name you just can't use it.
IMHO I think it is a bit of a tongue twister for me. But it is totally up to you guys. I tend to think what the name will sound like in different instances. I like names to sound right with the surname because I think if they were to become a high profile person that is how they're known.
I love Sacha, it sounds so graceful! It is a bit of a mouthful with your surname (damn hubbies and their last names! I have this issue a bit too!) but try and imagine that it is being announced at school assembly for winning a big award, or when she is grown up an they are announcing her winning an olympic medal (or the nobel peace prize, whatever way she goes!) and see if you feel happy about it that way.
Like a pp said, you aren't going to use it that way much so she will just be Sasha to you..
oh i'm so sorry to admit yeh to me it sounds to be a mouth full, bit like she sells sea shells by the sea shore IYKWIM ... although i do love Sacha too ... Seems Sharkey is a hardish name to team a name with (my previous surname was the same).
