No more bottle, no more milk - is this bad?

Well Miss B is 19.5mths old and has only been having one bottle for awhile now and thats before bed!
DH thinks its time she got rid of that bottle, so we have gone cold turkey no more bottle! Im fine with the idea of getting rid of the bottle, but what worries me is, that having the bottle is the ONLY way Miss B will drink milk! we have tried other ways but she won't touch it!

Im worried about her not getting any milk intake - is it bad that she stops having milk?

She does eat other dairy products but its the milk thing thats getting to me.

Any recommendations on how to get her to drink milk? or any reassurance that maybe just maybe she dosent need milk? or that having a bottle (1 bottle) at her age isn't really that bad?

I think the recommendation is to stop bottles by 2. As for milk, I don't think i's really necessary if she's getting calcium elsewhere.
DS won't have milk at all, but has cheese and yogurt so I don't worry about it.

Tommy Tippee (I think?) have a bottle that is more like spout shape, and the same material as a teat. That may help. My DS2 weaned early and would not take a bottle so I gave him this and he took it really well.
You can get calcium from all sorts of other foods other than milk.
Does she eat cheese and yoghurt?
If you google foods rich in calcium you will get quite a list.

Thank you Marcellus for your fast reply! how much cheese and yoghurt is enough tho? if she has a tub of yoghurt a day and a few slices of cheese is that enough?

Heather72 - thanks i will check that bottle out! we have tried sippy cups, "big girl" cup, cups with straws, milk warm, milk cold and neither of that is working! she self weened herself from all her other bottles during the day which was great but this is taking a while - which personally i didnt have a problem with but DH did! she does eat cheese and yoghurt!
Off to google now - thanks also for you fast reply!

DD1 is still having bottles of milk a day, and I told myself I will stop it when she is 2. Which is in a few months time. She's only just started holding the damn things by herself without us having to feed her, so I'm not going to take them away now.. LOL

hj, it is recommended that babies that age have 3 serves of calcium a day. A yoghurt, and a couple of slices of cheese would be about 2 -3 serves. There are some other high calcium foods listed here - Vegetarian Network Victoria - Complete Nutrient Summary.

I totally agree that milk is not necessary - it's just a matter of getting the calcium from other sources.

I don't know how much is 'enough', but I suspect that whatever most of us have is probably too much. For toddlers also I think it's good to look at intake of various nutrients etc over the week, rather than on a daily basis. Taht averages out the nothing-but-water-and-biscuits days

ETA - wow, really that much!? That'd be a whole lunch for DS.

Dd1 won't give hers up, it doesn't help that dd2 still has a bottle. She will drink water from a cup but if we give her milk in a cup she 'accidentally' spills it. It's something we need to work on. She was lactose intolerant and was never kern on cheese, she likes brie but that's about it and she loves yoghurt but won't eat enough to make up her dairy needs. She hates custard and ice cream so can't even entice her with the unhealthy dairy.

We have the tommie tippy bottles might try that.
