    Unhappy Poor Gloria...

Gloria is our beloved Maltese/****zu cross. She was 1 in April. She is part of the family & thinks she is human...

Anyway she has had this little thing on her tail that she scratched a while back. It healed up without treatment & I assumed it was a flea or grass allergy that had irritated her.

Anyway I've been sick for the last few days with a tummy bug. I noticed Saturday night a nasty weepy patch on her lower tail again. So I put the Elizabethan collar on her, bathed it with some laavender oil.

I was really sick last night and today & this afternoon I had a look & it looks necrotic. I nearly flipped and we all piled into the car to the vet.

He thinks she's had it jammed somewhere & after she was sedated and we could shave it there is necrosis. I feel awful awful awful. I just burst into tears my poor Glorsy.

Anyway she is heere next to me sleeping. She's eaten & is on a/b's. If it hasn't improved by Wednesday she is going to have to have it amputated on Friday.

I really hope she's going to get better (her tail). Poor little sweetheart - she's such a beautiful girl - loves us and trusts us. I feel so bad I didn't realise how bad it was. All the fur she has it was so hard to see. She's eating, drinking, playing etc like normal...

    Aaaarghh....

awww poor Gloria. I hope they can save her tail. She's lucky you were on the ball - it's so easy to miss stuff on little fluff balls. All that hair can hide all sorts of stuff.

doggies are sometimes too clever in hiding how serious their injuries might be! Don't feel bad, you took her to the vet as soon as you noticed it wasn't looking good. Fingers crossed she gets better and it doesn't have to be amputated.

You aren't nearly as bad as my brother who had to be persuaded by my mum to take one of his working dogs to the vet..she fell off the back of his ute and had a nasty wound on her leg and was limping badly. 2 days later he finally takes her to the vet and her pelvis was dislocated poor thing must have been in so much pain, but thankfully she is young and should heal ok. So, in conclusion ( ) you are a great owner, try not to feel too guilty

Don't feel bad it probably did get better for a while there so I don't think there was anything you could have done differently. The main thing is you realised and took her to the vet and she is going to be fine. I hope the abs work and she doesn't have to have it docked.

poor little baby! i agree, you took her straight to the vet when you realised what was going on, and that's what makes you a good poochy-mama lol
i hope she gets to keep her tail, but at least you know that if she loses it, it's really not too big a deal xoxo

I know but it's such a glorious (pun intended) tail! It's so fluffy and curly... She still has sensation in the tip and along the tail so that's a good sign... I just want her to feel better with tail or without.

    Thankyou everyone.
