    Choc Ripple Variations?

Just wondering if anyone has made a Chocolate Ripple cake (you know, the one with the biscuits and cream) using other biscuits? I have a pack of Gingernut Snaps in the pantry and was wondering if it would work and how it would taste...

I can't see why gingersnap biscuits wouldn't work.

My DH made the choc ripple one last week, but he spread Nutella on one side of the biscuits and added a little nutella to the cream. Very yummo.

I have a friend who always uses gingernut biscuits for her ripple cake - she reckons it's great.

Other variations I use and/or know of:
    - butternut snaps with crushed crunchie in cream
    - choc biscuits with sprinkle of peppermint essence and crushed peppermint crisp in cream
    - choc biscuits, sprinkle of alcohol on biscuits (ie, cointreau) with chopped strawberries in cream
    - and I haven't made it, but I've seen a recipe for "black forest ripple" - choc biscuits, a dash of alcohol on biscuits (rum?), chopped black cherries in cream plus cherries and choc for top of ripple cake.

Whatever you use it's all yum, yum, yum!

You can also use Peanut butter frosting (made with cream cheese) with chocolate ripple biscuits and create an amazing Peanut Butter & Chocolate ripple cake.

Mmm. Yum. I've never made choc ripple cake, or any of its variations. I can see that's going to have to change.

I think I remember hearing that my nan used to dip the bikkies in orange juice, to give it a bit of a jaffa touch. Mmmm...

Last night I used the Gingernut snaps and grated some of DH's Fathers Day Toblerone through the cream. It was delicious!

I've been meaning to come back to this thread! I made my first ever one with butternut snaps and cream, with grated butterscotch chocolate overtop. Then DH left the fridge unlocked overnight. What was left when we got up was quite nice...

So later that week for #1's birthday DH wondered if butternut snaps were the sort of bikkie used in Kingston creams...so we made a cake with butternut snaps and folded melted chocolate into the cream and had a Kingston Cream cake. So. Yummy.
