Far out Oz, I can't believe it's been a year already! It really doesn't feel like she's been here a year already.

YUCK Cass! I would be mortified if it were me. I made both boys sit down to wee and I always wiped their bums for them because I just don't think I could handle cleaning up a mess like that.

Well tomorrow I'm off to Canberra and I'm going to meet up with Dusty, Onyx and Muppity while I'm down there. I'm so excited!

Oz: i'm with trill...can't believe that it's been a year...wow. it does go fast...Marta will be a month old on tuesday. man only feels literally like last week that i had her!

Trill: GREEN WITH ENVY!!! have a lovely, awesome, kid free time!!!

AFM: well, apart from the night where Marta was sick, we have managed to have 5 days of both girls going down at the same time . Even though it is bound to change it has given me hope that the long term can be achieved...and i do love having a couple of hours in the evening to just zone out IYKWIM.
went to the target babython today. bought Leila GORGEOUS summer clothes. they have the best pinstriped shorts and ruffle tops out...ALSO the sale is on socks and undies too! so we bought up big for her.

Thanks everyone for your reassurance re the hand washing. I think it sounds more like normal behaviour but I'm just worrying more because of the childcare disaster and all the clingy seperation anxiety we're getting.

MP - chuck some petunias or nasturtiums or even some snap dragons, they are fun to play with and grow pretty quickly. If you want more edibles, you can't go past baby carrots or radishes (fun to pull out and eat) or snow peas/sugar snap peas. I've got a batch in that have just started to flower, can't wait for the peas to start.

JM, yep Missy E is on to me with the choices too. She just answers "nothing" (usually with arms folded and sulky frown on face LOL). Well done with locking yourself away with a book! Sounds like an excellent fall-back plan.

Cass, oooh definitely discourage the toilet paper wiping. Missy E wants to do everything herself but she is happy to lean over and let me wipe her...not that we've had any toilet poos. So you're still ahead of the game LOL. Excellent haul at the Target Babython. E has had a growth spurt and suddenly a heap of her clothes don't fit her anymore. Good excuse for a shop up!

Oz, wow that year went quickly!

Trill, enjoy your trip, jealous of your meetup after my recent failed attempts LOL.

yeah leila had a massive growth spurt too. pity is that i forgot to check out the shoes..as the sale includes shoes and she needs new sandals...MUST GO BACK lol.

G: you could always get it for the boys lol! well the pinstripes shorts at least lol.

AFM: am sick. Marta passed it on...boo hoo! no energy and sore throat and poor wee bubs is also still blocked up. arrghhh!

Cass - hope you feel better soon. Definitely hitting Canberra Centre Target next week!!

Trill - have a wonderful time in Canberra, and enjoy your meetup!

Anyone else getting NOW on every request?

Oz - a year, you've got to be kidding!!

Miss K was wanting to wipe her own bottom (me 3!) last week, but she was happy to just do it a couple of times and then let us finish off. I made sure that DH didn't encourage it this week because I told him I was not ready to deal with that! As I left this morning I heard DH saying 'assume the wiping position' from the bathroom so I'm taking that to mean she wasn't doing it herself.

Mmm, we should get something grown in the garden for K to look after.

Trill, have a great time and enjoy the meet-up!

Ginger, yay for talking to JM.

We finally had good weather here today too - absolutely beautiful! DH took the kids on a bushwalk and they saw an actual real kiwi! I stayed at home so I missed out And it finally happened - the kids sat down and played by themselves for about half an hour! DH and I were both able to get something done, it was magic! They were playing with blocks and A had to have all the ones W was using - all I could hear from the other room was "Amia, nooooooo!" lol

W is another thrilled by the toilets at kindy - was the first thing he told the IL's about when they asked.

W has been wiping his own bottom since he started using the potty - so about 6 months now. It never really occurred to me to keep doing it and he did it without any prompting so I thought that was how it went lol, wasn't until I heard some of the mothers group ladies talking that I realised I was on easy street. He actually does a fair job. There aren't often skid marks in his undies so I assume he is wiping most of it off? On occasion I help if he is having trouble but most of the time he is self-sufficient. He also trims his own finger and toe nails

Arte - I remember seeing a kiwi on our very second day in NZ, it was one of those magic moments. Hope you're stocking up on sunlight, sounds like you've been really deprived. BTW (FB leakage) can't wait to hear all about what you've done in W's room.

Well I was supposed to get out in the garden today but I had a huge lie-in instead, even finished reading a novel(!) I was pretty tired, we went out for dinner last night (yummy greek restaurant), and then a movie. We hired a babysitter (first time ever) but to my great relief Evil Twin Deidre has stayed in Qld, and Missy E was happy as larry to have a special visitor looking after them for the evening.

Trill I also can't wait to hear about your big weekend away!

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend. It's not over here yet - woohoo for long weekends.

Well the weekend was wonderful! Onyx, Muppity and Dusty are just gorgeous women and it was so good to meet them after all these years. Onyx and Muppity did Floriade with me on Friday and on Saturday I stopped in at Dusty's place for a cuppa before I headed home and I didn't leave till nearly 1pm LOL! I could have stayed and chatted to her for hours. And I got to have snuggles with Baby Freya as well. Also did a bit of shopping. Mostly just trying stuff on and putting it back LOL, but still good to spend as long as you want doing that and not have to worry about the kids getting bored or playing chasies through the shop

AFM: arghh! i have mastitis!! so boring and sore! so feeling a bit sorry for myself. not much else to report. got a bit sunburnt what with all that sunshine we had yesterday! ahhhh bring on summer! (and the sunscreen lol).

Clare, bummer about the mastitis! But yay for the sunshine, doesn't it make such a difference to be able to get out in the sun (with sunscreen next time!)!

Trill, that sounds like a great meet up. Glad you had a good time.

MD, yay for a lazy day and for kids that don't scare the baby sitter away lol. W's room is a bit sombre for a three year old I think, but he really wanted it to be painted grey (or pink....so grey it is lol). I think the curtains are too dark as well but they are what he wanted and he loves it. Got a good light in there that makes it look like daylight in the dark so that helps.

Why have you guys got a long weekend? Is it Labour Day?

So enjoying the sunshine! Summer is actually on its way. I can't believe how different I feel just being able to get out in the sunlight and not be stuck inside all day, like a big dark cloud has lifted off me!
