oh i know how worried u must be my friend had a son who didnt talk much till late too...
Maybe try and make games out of it or call her mum or dad when u wanna talk to her..
when i call my son i always have a habit of calling them dad lol no idea why...
i used to also put my chin under theres and say mum mum mum and there mouth would open and shut with mine and the noise that comes out would start the sound off and they eventually started saying mum mum mum and wouldnt shut up lol...
if your really worried mayby take her to a pead. and see if there is a reason she is holding back on her speech??
sometimes kids like to do things at their own pace even if it has us pulling our hair out.. GL babe

You probably already do this, but 'they' say the best thing you can do is talk to her all the time, basically running commentary on whatever is going on around you.
Also, I'm not sure if there's one in your area or if they still run, but I took dd to a Mother goose parent child programme (ours was run through Uncle Bob) which involves lots of rhymes, songs and stories. She loved it, and they did some research that showed it really did improve language skills.
If you're really concerned you could check with a paed?

Has she had her hearing tested? If her hearing is compromised (even reduced, not necessarily deafness!) she will be much slower to develop her speech. A very simple test and at least you can rule it out.

As the PP said, kids develop in their own time. Is she particularly advanced in other areas? Kids tend to focus on developing one skill at a time... maybe speech is next for her!

    Good luck.

how well does she eat foods, like a variety of textures etc. Apparently being able to eat solid foods is just as important for the mouth muscles as baby talk, when it comes to speach.
    Hearing is definetly worth checking.
Go to your health nurse first, 'cause that's free get their opinion on this and other developmental milestones, if they are being reached etc.
then if your still concerned go to your gp.

don't forget kids take 2 different paths, some develope gross motorskills first and are realy active, good at sport, climbers, great hand eye co-ordination etc (kick balls) and other kids develop language and reasoning skills early and absolutley suck at the gross motor skills (otherwise known as my son, who can talk the leg of a horse but hasn't a sporty bone in his body!)

My DD had about three words until she turned two and then she started saying sentences. What I found really worked were some flash cards. I bought a pack on eBay and we would go through them at least once a day. It took a while but slowly her vocabulary increased and now at nearly three I can have a proper conversation with her. DD2 who is the same age as your DD is a little slow with her speech too compared to other kids but I'm not worried. If she's not talking by twoish, I'll take her to get checked. Does your DD make attempts to say things ie babble? I've been told a million times that if they are making noises not to worry until they are older. But then again lots of people on here recommend putting your name down with a speech therapist jic so by the time you get in it will be at an age where it's more obvious if there's a problem or not. Hope that helps x

she can say a few words but not sure if she knows what they really mean. She knows ball. Yesterday i told her to wave a say hi to the other kids in the park and she said it once and that was it lol. She would point to herself and say mama sometimes cos she copies me haha umm..she babbles on the pretend phone and whilst reading books. Usually if she wants me or dh she would pull our finger and drag it to want she wants She does eat whatever we are eating but not hard things yet. But i must mention that she was watching educational DVDs ( like baby einstein, counting dvds, singing ones) alllll the time and shes always on the ipad playing counting games and flashcard games. So i have completely stopped all that alltogether for 2 days now so i hope it would make a difference

i don't think you have too much to worry about. she sounds pretty clever, the words may be there, she just needs to work on the muscles.
