    Reccomend me a frying pan

I am sick to death of my fry pan's. they all go to the crappa within 3 months of buying them. Admittedly they dont cost me the earth but still...I am OVER THEM!!!!

Can you recommend me a decently priced frying pan.

I have an Anolon, very happy with it. It wasn't cheap but definitely worth it.

Maz get yourself a "mild steel" one from a cookware outlet. They need seasoning like a wok but NEVER lose their non-stick-ness if treated regularly (ie: every 6 months or so). They are super cheap too - my 30cm one was $35

Swiss Diamond here, still 100% happy and our is probably going on for three years, still has a fantastic surface and so easy to clean.

    Can't remember what we paid.

I got a $14 cast iron camping one from K-mart. It's really even heating and such and my parents have had one for 20 years. All I do after I wash it in the dishwasher is run an olive oil soaked paper towel over it to season it. It's a decent size too

Another recommendation for Swiss Diamond too. They are exxy upfront, but worth it in the long run. Look on sites like deal direct to see if you can get a cheap one.

Otherwise Baccarat is cheaper but good too.

If purchasing a non stick pan please remember not to use any oil sprays as they damage the coating and that is what causes it to roughen, bubble and peel off.

If I had my way I'd have only stainless steel and cast iron. But Swiss Diamond is *the* best teflon cookware range around (for the moment )

I bought a cast iron one from a cheapo home wares shop about 16 years ago and i use it almost every day... it was cheap, about $20 but it said "made in France" on the bottom. I have heard that France makes gooduns! I have photos of it in my FB album (Kitchen Creations). I wish I had the next size up though! If you get cast iron you will also have to season it (Google how to do that) but it's not hard, and once that's done and maintained you should have a pan that lasts a lifetime.

Personally i would never opt for a teflon/non-stick pan... they always scratch and don't last.... plus i worry about consuming the teflon!

Rouge: but what if there's oil in the food itself? I dunno... I agree, cast iron or heavy gauge stainless steel here all the way!

rofl FJ!!! I was thinking the same thing.... given that it was Maz asking and all! Wacking? Cast iron all the way!

I was given a Scanpan... rubbish!!!! Yes you can have all the good intentions in the world when it comes to not using sprays and only using plastic cooking tools etc... but make sure your DH doesn't use it or your MIL or anyone else (unreasonable)... mine only lasted about 2 weeks before sustaining a scratch from when my mother came to stay.

    a bit of both

Nah I want to be able to fry up an egg, steak, chicken ect without having to use oil *blerg* and without having it stick to the frying pan and go mushy.

Ive heard that Cai about the oil thing...and that teflon can make you mighty sick if consumed

Thanks so much girls...ithink I mikght have a big banger cast iron on in my camping stuff out in the shed....somewere

I'm with Teagz, I've had so many so called 'non stick' pans, but my woollies essential range is the BEST! My only complaint, if I were forced to make one, is that its not flat bottomed, its slightly raised in the centre, so its no good for pancakes or crepes. But brilliant for everything else, costs less than $10 and worth 10 times that much!

Be careful with this one Teagz, we had one and the screw snapped that held the handle on it. Lucky we had finished cooking at the time.

We just bought one of those non-stick ones with the red spot in the middle of it. I cooked a couple of steaks on it - best steak we've ever had (and DH is a butcher's son!!). Cost me $49 from K-mart.

    Bessemer baby!

Seriously my Bessemer frypan is the BEST! I use it every single day and nothing ever sticks to it.

I got mine from the deal on the Kerrianne show and I upgraded so I got a bigger frypan and casserole dish.

also, it's way heavy so would be a great wacker
