    Rump I tend to use for stir frys or things like beef stroganoff when not using a cheap cut in slow cooker.

    You could make a filo type something

    Good luck impressing/surprising a chef!!

    hmm... this is just me, but i know my DH LOVES my mashed potato..

    i put fairly finely chopped shallots and diced bacon into it and cook them, then add them when i go to mash it all up, and instead of using butter or milk or what not to mash it up, i use sour cream and some salt (to taste) then i also serve it up with veggies, garlic bread, onions and gravy. fairly simple, but i ALWAYS get people wanting the recipe for my mashed potato as its so yummy

    (maybe its a preg craving, but that mash also tastes REALLY good on the garlic bread :P)

    sorry its not that original, just a twist on a classic meat and veg

    We're having steak sandwiches tonight with ours - caramelized onions, chargrilled capsicum and rocket in turkish bread with wedges.

    Rump steak to me is a BBQ only steak. I like to do it Medium and either serve it with squashed, mashed or duck fat spuds. It has to be cooked perfectly with the least amount of fiddle because it can go from awesome to tough easily.

    I love a good steak salad with baby spinach, red onion, cherry tomatoes, steak and blue cheese dressing all served with creamy cheesy mashed potatoes.

    Ingredients:

    * 4 filet mignon, about 1 1/2 inches thick
    * 4 tablespoons olive oil
    * 2 cloves garlic, minced
    * 1 teaspoon rosemary
    * 1 teaspoon thyme
    Preparation:
    Heat olive oil and garlic in a covered microwave safe bowl for 50-60 seconds. Remove and allow to cool. Add herbs and stir. Place filet mignon into a shallow glass dish. Pour herb mixture over and turn steaks to coat. Cover and let marinate for 1-4 hours in refrigerator. Preheat grill for high heat. Remove steaks, remove excess oil, and season with salt and pepper. Place on grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side. Remove from heat and serve.
