Cool Naturopath Appt ~ Changing Diets ~ Meal ideas needed

Saw the naturopath today and I'm confident that we can get on top of Tristan's bowel issues and hopefully help his eczema and lungs too all with a change in diet
The boys need to avoid dairy and wheat and reduce yeasts and sugars.

We have a substitute for bread, so that's easy... but the rest is going to be a gradual thing over the next few months and once we move that's it, new diet starts.
She also put them on a few supplements to help them too. All up the appointment cost me about $200, 45mins with her + supplements. (also needed a few other meds)

We see the dietician on Wednesday so that's handy, I have lots of questions for her We go back next month to look more at Brendan and myself.

Sooo... now I need some meal ideas (dinner is fine, meat and veg/salad too easy) mainly for breakkie and lunch, remember NO WHEAT or DAIRY... I like to be difficult
I'll have a cruise around the forums later tonight, just want to get some easy/simple/low prep meals to get us started.

    Thanks!

The only breakfast stuff I can think of is, Quinoa, Bacon & eggs, omelettes etc.

Lunches I'm thinking things like fish & salads, fried rice, stir fries, quiche made with rice base rather than pastry etc.

Can they have soy? Soy yoghurt and fruit.
When I was on wheat and dairy free I used to make mini crust less quiches for breakfast or lunch
    Vegetable soup is good too.
    Rice cakes with mashed banana
If your boys can have soy look out for Tofutti. It is just like cream cheese but dairy free
    Gluten/wheat free muffins
I use rice milk for cooking

Quinoa is a grain that can be used similar to porridge.

I do all my cooking and everything with rice milk. I guess if you are on a wheat free as well as dairy free your most difficult thing is keeping things variable. If you google pig in the kitchen you may find a blog that can help you.

    Breakfast ideas:
    eggs
    bacon
smoothies, rice milk, bananas etc etc...
rice mllk and gluten free cereals like crunchola.... Crunchola is awesome

    Lunch:
    crustless quiches (as previously mentioned)
left overs!!! Stir fry, wraps with gluten free wraps, sample plate.... my DD doesn't like sandwiches atm, so we do Japanese bento boxes with snacks and a tin of tuna or hummous and carrots.... we try to add protein to her lunch as well as one vegetable to keep her full as well as meet her daily standards

    Dinner:

    Roast meat/chook & veges
Stir fry with rice or rice noodles
Soup.... potato and leek etc etc
    bolognaise with rice noodles
sausages with mashed potatoes.... aka bangers and mash
    meat & 3 veges
rice noodle salad... basically rice noodles and a few raw veges as well as ham/steak/thinly sliced meat.... I do it with a vietnamese dressing

    Snacks:
    sorbet
    fruit
    rice crackers and hummous
    vege sticks and dips
    plain pasta

    HTH!

There is a muesli that doesn’t have wheat with the word sun on it (sorry, ages since I bought it).

Zucchini slice , use buckwheat flour instead of SR, I think it taste better anyway,

Heard a hint this morning, when making chocolate cake use apple sauce instead of butter. If you need to use butter Nutalex is dairy free I think

    Rice with stewed fruit

Just dairy, soy is still ok at this point

Will have to have a look to see what they have at the shops in town. Am hoping I can mostly get away with making things from normal foods, rather than buying the special foods iykwim. I have to consider cost at this point until we get established anyway.

    WOW Christy THANKS!

Awesome thanks! I'll have a look for that.

Can they have oats? It's a different grain to wheat.

My niece is coeliac (gluten free diet), she uses rice flour and corn flour for all her baking (don't know if they have that in Australia though). Go to the gluten free section in your supermarket - all of those products are wheat free. Just make sure they don't contain dairy.
