    Dog Clipping $$$

Ms Fluffy White needs brushing after every walk with all this grass seed about. I thought I could get her clipped but the place near here charges $75
She's not large and not very hairy. She just has big pants and fuzzy ears that need clipping.

Is $75 about normal? Will I find somewhere much cheaper if I keep looking?

Anyone in the ACT that can hook me up with a cheap groomer?

My fluffy mutt has long shaggy hair and can get matted in his armpits! He gets groomed regularly about every 2 months, in the warmer months he gets a complete shave! I only pay about $50 but it's less when she doesn't have to shave him. I'm in Victoria but my lady comes to our house with a fitted out trailer, plugs into our power supply and away she goes. Is that an option where you are? May be cheaper seeing they don't have an actual shop IYKWIM?

Jims have mobile dog washes and groomers. A GF has them come to her house for her boys (king charles spaniels brothers) and says they are very reasonable. Pretty much like CheezelMonsters lady.
$75 sounds pretty steep! I get charged that for my Cat and only because they have to use a light anaesthetic on her Lol!

It costs us $55 to get our border collie shaved, clipped and washed. But our dude has been doing our dog for a while. Otherwise I'd be up for around $70.

Just a thought, but could you do it yourself? A set of clippers might set you back that, but then you'd not have to pay again.....(I have no idea about this, so ignore if its a stoopid idea )

Try some of your local vets. A lot offer a clip service. Nothing fancy, just comfort clips.

    That's far too much.

$50 is about normal. I don't get clippers because I can't get into the eye area as well as the pros

A wash and brush (no clip) for my Lab x Poodle/Labradoodle cost me $55 last week.

Thanks FJ. I'll try the vet tomorrow.
She doesn't need anything glam. It's mainly her pants and her ear fluff that get stuff in them.

I don't see myself wielding clippers TBH. I'd probably take a nipple off or something.

we paid around $100 for both our pups to be clipped ... and then we spent $20 on clippers, and we now do it ourselves!

Yeah I used to do it with my Mum's Silky Terrier...not actually too hard to do yourself. Not sure about the ears though.

We pay $50 to get our ****er spaniel clipped (and washed). Ours is also a mobile dog wash that comes to us.

Our vets also offer dog grooming too, but we've been using our dog groomers to many years now, so haven't changed- but i believe they were about the same price.

Many years ago we did try to clip our dog ourselves...did not turn out too good- as she is very furry...the cheap clippers just wouldn't clip...and to buy good quaility dog clippers would cost around $300 (well thats the only ones we could find)...so figured we'd just keep up with getting some who knows what they are doing.

Good luck...hope you can find somewhere a little more reasonable in price.

I really am unsure whether that is expensive or not, but if your dog is good....stays still etc, then I'd just consider getting clippers onto her yourself. I think that groomers tend to charge especially if the dog is 'difficult'

Coming from a girl who has a fully coated Old English Sheepdog...I know a thing or two about brushing and ear plucking....but not clipping!!

OMG, I pay $110 for my cat to be clipped, but I spose that's because they sedate him. I didn't get him done at the vet last time, I just hacked into him with the scissors and clippers cause I'm finding it hard to accept that my cat gets a haircut more expensive than I do LOL...

I used to take my dog to our vet to be clipped. She's a sheepdog so in summer she gets shaved, in winter she has a strip out and a wash, it used to cost $55. Now I go to a lady who does it from home and pay $40-$50 depending on how bad the dog is.

My dog (Labrador x collie) had REALLY long fur on the legs, belly, tail, ears etc... I just clipped the hair myself. By "clipping" I mean cutting with scissors. It really isn't that hard. The advantage of using scissors is that you can cut some parts shorter than others. And if you do mess it up... it always grows back!
