    Infant Nightmares?

DS woke up last night screaming blue murder, which freaked DH and I out because we didn't know what was wrong. It took a good 10 minutes to calm DS down, after he had screamed himself to the point of hiccups. It was very distressing for all of us. He eventually calmed down and had a feed, although he had only fed and been changed an hour earlier. He slept well last night without any further trouble.

We've just started BLS but he hasn't shown any physical reaction to the food, and we checked him over last night to make sure there was nothing physically wrong.

The only thing we can think of is that he had a nightmare. I've heard of night terrors, but for some reason I thought that was only experienced by toddlers. DS is only 5 mths old - do bubs this young experience night terrors? Do they become more frequent for some children, or are generally just occasional events?

    TIA.

The evidence that I know about (which doesn't necessarily mean it's right!) says that they start nightmares around 2, the same time they start appearing in their own dreams.

I don't really know what it could be though. Could it be a "lower" reaction to BLS, like further down in his gut? Not necessarily pain, just an unfamiliar sensation?

    Hope it improves for you.

Thanks Audax. One of my Belly Buddies thinks it might be because he was sleeping on his side, and his arm might have gone to sleep or started to hurt. That makes sense, but he likes sleeping on his side so there's not much we can do about that. It makes sense though!
