    Help - removing security tag

    Hi there,

Last week I bought a bonds maternity bra from Big W and went through the self-check out thing. But now, I've got it home and I realised it has a security tag thing in it (grey plastic with a steel stud thing going through from the other side of the bra fabric).

I REALLY didn't steal it! But I don't want to have to go back to the really really busy shopping centre at this time of the year! And I'm not even sure I still would fine the docket. Is there any way to remove it myself at home?

    TIA!

I really doubt it, they are designed not to be easily removed. I'd take a bet on bringing it back and asking them to do it in the new year maybe?

I have smashed them off with a hammer before, it took a while though.

You will need to take it back, they are designed to leak a blue ink if they are not properly removed.

    Have fun

I've been told that u can put it in the freezer, to freeze the ink- then smash it with a hammer

My brother used to own a clothing shop and as you can imagine I spent hours in there trying on every item of clothing that I even 'thought' might look ok lol anyway the point is that when he sold the shop there was heaps of left over stock and one item still has that darn security thingo on it 5 years later yes I've tried EVERYTHING to get it off. You'd think that by now I'd find another shop owners and ask if I can use their thingamajiggy to get it off but I haven't bothered. I guess one day I will. SO I think you'll need to return to the shop with your receipt to get it taken off

Hacksaw through the metal pin if you can move the fabric out of the way enough.

I had one years ago leak yellow dye onto my new bra, but we got it off. I think we used a hammer, I was only about 17 & tbh there's every chance that one wasn't paid for
Back when we bought stuff from Rivers though, they didn't take one off DH's shoe I think. We took it back straight away, then got home & realised his pants had one too Had to get MIL to take them back coz we lived 2 hours away. They look alot stronger these days, lol.

Your best bet is to ring up the store and explain your situation. If you are open and honest you shouldn't require your reciept to get the tag removed.

We've had it happen a few times....
Ad gets them off with a screwdriver somehow.. in the shop they just push them down on this metal prong, so if you can do that with a screwdriver, it usually works.. xoxo

I've used pliers to get them off when I couldn't be bothered to go back to the shops. You just wiggle them off

the ones from bigw dont have the dye in them i dont think those one are removed by a really strong magnet it pulls the metal pin out of it ive gotten it off by smashing it so maybe a hacksaw would work

I have gone back without a receipt (also self serve situation) and asked at the service counter. If you stay at the front of the store then they should take it off. They can't accuse you of stealing it unless they see you walk past the caunter with the item from within the store. Even if you talk to the bag check person and explain situation. They might call someone to sort you out.

    HTH
