Smile Help with my first chart please!

    Hi all,

Im new to charting and TTC#2. I have had spotting since 7dpo (am now 10dpo) which has been dark brown/ black and bright red and lighter than regular AF. I have also had a leutal phase dip at 8dpo which could indicate IB. Could experienced charters please have a look at my chart and let me know what they think? Early AF or IB?

Thank you in advance for any advice! And fingers frossed it's good news, lol.

Well I have another semi-low temp today, doesnt seem nearly high enough to indicate pregnancy from othr charts i've seen. If anyone thinks otherwise from experience, please let me know.

I was so sure this was THE month and now i'm starting to think my 'spotting' was really AF. But why would AF arrive so soon after O? How can I have a leutal phase length of only 6 days? Or was there something wrong with the egg? I think i'm losing my mind!

It's been a while since I charted so I can't recall everything exactly but your temp is still above that magic red line. From memory I has lowish temps most months that I temped. I'd also recommend getting a basal Body themometer (a BBT) as they go to 2 decimal places. I started using just a reg themometer but when I changed to a BBT, I could see my temp trends a bit better so I could predict things a bit better.

Ok we need more info.... How long have you been ttc? How old is your first child? Have your cycles been regular? Do you have PCOS or anything like that? How are you temping (vag or oral)? It looks as though you are not temping at the same time each day, can you tell us more?

If I were to look at your temps alone I would say you haven't O'd... your OPK's, CM and CP tell otherwise. I would recommend chacking your CP everyday to get to know it a little better and it will help in your interpretaion of your body's cycle.

My background is: I'm 29 (30 in March), DH and I have a 3yo DD and have been TTC#2 for 2 years (but, in saying that, my husband has been away with work for probably over a year of that time intermitently). I have Polycystic ovaries but not the syndrome ie. im very athletic and on the lean side and lead a healthy lifestyle (no smoking, a glass of wine every couple of nights with dinner).

Ive been taking my temps orally with a BBT but admittedly I havent been taking them at exactly the same time each morning because I wake a LOT during the night - once to DD, once to my DD kicking me, once from a wierd dream..you get the picture. Quite often I dont even get a 3 hour block of sleep. I dont even think I could set an alarm because Im often lying awake leading up to the alarm going off, but when I wake up in anticipation of the alarm changes every day. So my sleep deprivation and 'insomnia' could have a huge impact on my temps.

I got 3 days of +OPKs and BD'd every day during that time, using Preseed and staying in bed with legs up for 30 minutes. I didnt have ANYTHING to drink over xmas/ NY.

Does that help any? Should I just go by my BM and OPK's and not temps because I'm such a lousy sleeper do you think?

I decided to chnge my chart from 'spotting' to 'light' AF. My temp hasnt gone back up so might as well start all over again.

Hopefully I dont have my period for 4 weeks and then have to wait another 40 days after that to ovulate again like I did last cycle. Guess I will have to spend another small fortune on OPK's since my temps dont help very much.

    Feeling pretty down today.

    HI Soph

I had a look at your chart yesterday but did not post. I think it will be a bit hard to interrupt what is going on with your temps, especially when you have such a distrupted sleep.

Do you think that you spotting was/is actually AF? Is this something normal for you?? I see the reason why you may have changed it to light AF cause it has gone on for some time. You COULD by 11dpo today - have you done a HPT just to be sure before changing your data?

As for spending a small fortune on OPK's - I have just bought 20 OPKs and 20 HPTs off ebay for $16 (includes postage) cause I know how expensive the shop ones are!! You can buy up to 40 OPKs as well from some of the sellers. Maybe something to look in to???

    Thanks for your help, Ngala.

To be honest, nothing is 'normal' for me. I had AF for 3 weeks before this cycle and had to take Prevera to start fresh for this cycle (which would now be at day 60!!)

I will definitely look into the ebay OPK's, thanks for that

Ive done a HPT but of course it was negative. I will continue to test until what would have been day 18 just to drive myself crazy but im starting to think i'll have to go back to the doc to get something to stop the bleeding again. Already it's been going on for 7 days.

I'm off to see a new naturopath this afternoon, so hopefully she can shed some light. I'm also going to try accupuncture. Got to try somthing!

It must be quite difficult when you are on the leaner and healthier side hey? I love my gym workout and to some intense weight sessions with my personal trainier. My diet is healthy and I try and keep my protein intake higher cause its needed in my training. I know that all this can affect fertility but don't want to take it easy at the gym!

I hope that the naturopath has helped you out!

The naturopath actually said that she thinks I might have auto immune issues from my family history that is causing me to have clotting, and the prolonged bleeding is my body trying to expel them all the time (I have some really big clots sometimes and have been checked for fibroids but all clear). She said its quite common and that often it is only diagnosed once women are undergoing IVF because the tests for it arent standard and she has seen it a lot.

She also thinks my circulation needs attention because I always have cold extremities and she gave me a probiotic to help my gut because she said that it plays a part in your hormones as well.

So im feeling really positive after meeting with her, she was fantastic

Ngala: I think as long as youre not a professional athlete training for 8 hours a day it's fine. Exercise is great for fertility and it helps a LOT when your pregnant and giving birth. I gained 12kg when I had DD and lost it all within 3 weeks without diet or exercise because I was in such great shape. Lean muscle mass burns fat by itself! And the naturopath said protein is good for fertility, she said it stimulates normal hormone production, so keep eating those eggs!! lol

Soph - that is great that you are positive after meeting the naturopath! The help a lot more in some ways than what a doctor does. I hope everything works out for you

THanks for the info about the exercise!! I have been with my trainer since April 2010 and he thinks that if I stick to exercising during my pregnancy then I should be able to drop the baby weight real quick! I gained over 20kg with my first one and DO NOT want a repeat of that this time!! So if all is well in my pregnancy, I hope to exercise well in to the 3rd trimester (my trainer trained a lady until a week before she gave birth!) As for the extra protein in diet, do you know if protein shakes are ok? I have one a day for breakfast, it is mixed with oats, banana & a bit of milk and blended up..

I dont see why not. She gave me a list of foods she suggests if you would like me to pass it on. Her main tip was to eat protein for breakfast and cut out non toasted bread. She also said to help your digestion to eat 3 mouthfulls of protein first before carbs. So interesting!

My trainer says that you can maintain your exercise regimen while pregnant, just dont do any more than before you were UTD. Some things might have to be modified (ie lying down and lifting big weights) but I intend to keep going this time round, too

Soph, thank you I would love to know what food she has suggested!! Yes, my main protein is at breakfast and a try have more protein than carbs in all my main meals.
Yes exactly, thats what my trainer has said - that you can do what you were doing before getting UTD but maybe just lesson the weight and use more reps. I think I only got to 4mths with my last pgncy and then ballooned out dont want that this time round!
