EA Sports Active - user questions

Finally making a real effort and dragging out the Wii. Have started to use Active properly (rather than just messing about) and I have a few questions

Not detecting movement: I find it is struggling with nunchuck based movements, like with boxing it is least likely to detect my left punches. With walking it is struggles with kickbacks (that or I am so bad at doing them)

Using it with the board: now normally I don't wear shoes with using the board, but I find with Active I need to wear shoes for running etc. Am I meant to take my shoes off with the board ? (in the how to videos they have barefeet). Do you bother taking your shoes off? Too me it would just interfere with the flow of the workout.

Hand pain: getting some hand pain holding the remote. Could be holding it wrong, but if I fiddle with it too much the system struggles to detect it or just keeps on telling me to keep still.

Other than that I am enjoying it Now if only I can complete my first 30 day challenge

I started doing the 30 day challenge before Christmas me 1 week in I had lost 1kg. 10 days in I did a tendon in my ankle and that was the end of that, as I spent the next 3 weeks in pain and on bed rest.

I too struggled with it registering some punches and the kick backs. I did it barefoot, but thinking of doing it with shoes on the next time I get back into it.

BTW I did the tendon in by doing side lunges.

I find it annoying when my movements don't register and it is usually when I'm doing a squat or leg lift and now that you mention it my kickbacks don't register sometimes and I find them the hardest to do!

I don't use the board so have no advice there although I couldn't imagine doing the workout without shoes esp the track exercises.

I haven't noticed any hand pain but maybe you are gripping too hard? Don't know.

I really need to get back into it as I really enjoy it too. The trainers are going to wonder where I've been

If I use the board I do it without shoes, but I have discovered that doing it without the board and with shoes is often better for me.
I find that with the punch and the leg kicks too, but I find if I widen my stance a bit and use more of an aerobic warmup type movement it's better as opposed to a walking movement..
I do find that about the hands too...

I am prone to carpal tunnel, so I suspect that combined with the shape of the remote, that I am hurting my hand. Keeping it strapped for the moment.

I might try a few days without the board and see if I am happy with those workouts. Just don't want to be taking my shoes on and off. My calves hurt with the running and no shoes.

Astro -ouchies about the tendon. Need to be careful there as well, as one of my ankles has been dodgy the past month and I can just feel it tweeking (that is even with day to day stuff, not just using the Wii)

    Thanks Ladies!

Tried today without the board and think I prefer with the board. The boxing is so much better with it. Just wish I had waited a week to buy my sneakers, as I noticed Target now has a Maryjane style which would be so much easier to take on and off.

I think it hated me today. Jump Lunges!! I so don't want to do those again.
