Red face Anyone else a fan of Dr Sandra Cabot?

I'm considering starting the Liver Cleansing Diet and a lot of her information makes a lot of sense to me. I've met her twice and she's a very open and genuine person which makes me trust her opinion.

Anyone else familiar with her work? Anyone else tried the Diet??

Yep, I did the LCD and felt amazing! Lost loads of weight, found loads of things to cook and after I got my head around what I could and couldn't eat, it was really easy.

Thinking about doing it again once I'm not pg.

Only hard thing was the fact that DH didn't do it with me (cos he was underweight already) and I had to cook extra bits for him, but we easily adapted, I woukd make a veggie meal and he would just add meat to it, if that makes sense.

    Good luck

Sunny - that's a real shame I'm sure Dr Cabot would be saddened to hear that.

SJ - so there's no meat in LCD? Is it dairy and gluten free too? I hope to buy the book tomorrow...

There is meat in the diet, but only in certain weeks, and only chicken and fish - no red meat. Although I could b wrong, it was a long time ago...

I did it a little different from the book, I think I was stricter that the book, like only spelt or gluten free bread etc...

Also I dont eat red meat anyway, so won't remember if you could eat that at any point iykwim.

Think u can have alcohol at times, but I cut that out totally too...

I would def recommend reading the book and doing the diet

Yes, dairy free... Found some great products to supplement the things I was missing.

Thanks SJ - I don't drink alcohol anyway, so that's no biggie for me.

I ended up buying the 'Fatty Liver' book instead as she told me I had this when I saw her a while ago. It's more about making a lifestyle change rather than an 8 week diet - so I figured I'd start with this and then look at doing the LCD after I'm comfortable with this one (so I revert back to this when I finish LCD). I hope that makes sense!

It's awesome, I lost loads of weight with that years ago and never felt better!

I still apply loads of it to my diet all the time.

It seems the fatty liver book is just what I need for now (not as extreme) as I feel I can totally 'do' this. Can still have dairy, but all sugars and grains are out! Will begin tomorrow having no sugar in my coffee

Also, dark chocolate is in so completely doable! I bought some nuts and seeds to snack on and have some nice salad stuff for lunches.. Wish me luck for my willpower!

    Good luck Nettie!

Another really good book is called 12 Superfoods by Gillian McKeith (from You are what you eat TV program). It has 12 foods which are awesome to add into your diet and make you feel really good.

Good Luck Nettie - i found that i really wanted to do the LCD so it was easy - you just have to get your head in the right place first.
Also being able to 'indulge' in some treats like the dark choc makes it so much easier!

Let us know how you go and how you feel
