    Finding the joy...

This is inspired by one of my BB friends that I have on FB, who has recently had second bub and posted something like "Two kids asleep, cake baking - finding the joy."

DH and I are really struggling with parenting at the moment. DD is pushing every boundary possible and DS is 9mths going on 2yo. He's teething and jumping milestones and is pretty grizzly and clingy, not to mention the sleep issues!

Anyway, the post on FB has been ringing around my head and yesterday I decided I need to find the joy in each day. Something small, something big, whatever, I just need to find the joy.

Something to help me through the day, with my sanity in tact and some semblance of happiness in my heart.

So I thought I'd start this thread as I know there are others struggling with things in life - parenting for lots of us! I'm going to try and post something every day, feel free to share as well if you are able to find some joy in your day.

Yesterday's moment: refilling the coffee machine and smelling those gorgeous coffee beans as they poured into the grinder. Then the smell of my first cup of coffee as it brewed and gurgled into my cup.

Today's moment 1: watching my DH rough house with my DD after dinner and hearing her laugh til she got the hiccups.

Moment 2: Crunchie choc, glass of red wine, two kids asleep and double Survivor. Ahh!

Gorgeous post hun I too get bogged down, particularly in DS who is so difficult and negative, sooky, whiny and defiant right now, so I really try hard to focus on the positive.
Check out a project online called 365grateful - if you google that you should be able to find it. All about a lifechanging experiment a lady went through and now they are making a documentary about it.

Mine for today is: Listening to DD play by herself and chat to herself while we watched a bit of TV before she went to bed and distracting DS' whiny mood by tickling him until he forgot what he was sooking about!

Watching DD and DH snuggle up after dinner, precious time before DH had to go out, playing with the talking cat app and seeing DD dissolve into fits of giggles.

    Great thread, OP

mine for today: #1 being exhausted from renovations and ready to cry only to hear insane amounts of baby giggles as DD1 dances for DD2.
#2 putting both girls to bed this evening after a long day and just chilling with DH as we look over the bits and pieces of what will soon be our new kitchen (ATM it's all in piles from one end of the house to the other lol)

    Great idea!

    Mine for the today:

Eating an entire block of chocolate to myself while DS napping. This will no doubt lead to the downer of tomorrow - spending countless visits running to the toilet!

    Great thread OP.
Many years ago when I was struggling with the start of my anxiety I started to do this, and often revert to it when I can feel a slide.

Mine today is seeing mh DH tonight, even if it was only for half an hour (sounds weird but he works away at a bush station and I never know when we'll get to see him apart from 6weekly planned leave). And the fact that that half hour was after the kids were asleep so it was uninterrupted. With two sick kids today it certainly was an unexpected joy.

Nice thread. Yesterday for me it was DS watching a DVD on my bed and me beside him reading a book, both of us snuggled under the doona. DS saying "this is sooo nice mummy".

Mine for today when DS started mooing when the cash cow came on sunrise. Then when the segment was over he started waving and saying "Bye cow!!"

    Gorgeous.
