centrelink don't do bond loans
it's up to the housing department in the state in which you live.
criteria are really quite tight - check out the housing department website for the state you are moving to for more information
So , we are moving, interstate, and its going to be expencive. with all the other costs etc something has to give.
ive heard about these bond loans that centerlink can offer....but i cant find the info about it on the centerlink page. does anyone know anything about it??

Not sure if you're planning on renting through a real estate agency? Because most don't accept bond loans.
We got ours through the department of housing. Like BG said, the criteria is tight. There's also a bit of annoying paperwork involved. Google it for your state, no harm in applying! GL!
In the past I didn't have a problem having an agent accept the bond loan, I don't know about now though.
Almost every house we have looked at in the last 18months have had some note on the listing saying they don't accept bond loans.
The only reason I remember it so well is because I hadn't seen that before and now it seems to be on every listing.
But that might also be because of our area, very competitive rental market.
thanks, i talked to someone else about it and i dont think we would be able to get it. it is quite hard to get i think. thanks again for replies though
I just got one, It wasnt hard , except if you find forms hard lol
I just went to a Department of housing office, got the forms
had to find a rental property
then you ask the real estate agent once you are approved to sign the part of the form they need to
then take the forms back to department of housing to process, it took a week but the real estate agent signed the form, and knowing i was waiting for that money, thay made a date to sign the lease a week later and it all worked out
needless to say, you have to fit certain criteria, but if you are receiving centrelink payments and your dh isnt working or is only casual then they will help, especially since you arre relocating for employment possibilities and have a child .....
PM me if you need anymore help![]()
How annoying. I guess people would just end up with an awful payday loan or similar.
true "bond loans" are paid when the department pays your bond and they get their money back when you leave
i don't know if there is a way you can get an actual short term loan for the bond through a charitable organisation in the shorter term though
thanks Mum2Romone: i wasnt going to bother after what other had said but i think il call the dep of housing on monday and see what they say, i think we may just be over the limit on what you can earn, but only just. so we will see. cant hurt to ask i guess. thanks again, il be sure to ask if i have any q's.
No worries hun, Goodluck !!!
mine was easy to get too but im not earning much atm... only took me about 5 mins to fill out the form n the real estate agent filled out the rest then i handed it in n it takes about 4 days to go through! good luck!
My last tenants got one of those loans/bond. They were both on a pension and didn't have an outstanding debt to Housing SA so it was all fine.
Onerous paperwork though.
