Boys names - something a bit different but not too weird IYKWIM

Gee boys names are so hard! It seems like every boy is called the same thing atm Hoping you guys can help us with a few names for the list.

We like names that have a good meaning, or have mythological background, or irish heritiage, or come from sci fi movies/tv and books in general (tall order I know).
Also DH thinks its important to have a full name that we can short ie Nathan to Nate (which I don't agree with lol)

Our DD is Maya Scarlett (Maya pronuced My-a). Our last name starts with a C and ends with an N.

Names we kinda like so far (all a bit meh)

Duncan (has boring meaning - Brown warrior?)
    Jonah
Finnian (but every kid is called Finn atm)
    Luka
Jacob (I like this not DH)
    Nate (Don't like Nathan though)
    Jax (not Jackson though)
    Quinn
    Tobias
    Lachlan
    Loki
    Marcus

    HELP PLEASE!

I always thought Danger was a middle name!

I love Jonah, my friend's little one is called this. His nickname is Jonesy. So cute!

If your surname ends in N then a first name ending in N might sound a bit too repetitve or rhymy. If you don't mind the N thing then maybe Dustin?

From your list I prefer Jonah. Some other thoughts are Jude, Tobias, Rory, Gabriel, Drake

I agree with your DH though it is nice to have a full name - I always think that you have to have a name that sounds as good on an adult and elderly person as it does on a child.

Ahh one of my boys names was Azarias Jonah. Never got another boy after Aricyn though - even though we tried!!

Why don't you just use Nate? It is an actual name, doesn't have to be shortened from Nathan?

I'd offer more names but they are probably a bit too out there for ya

I like Nate, Oscar, Jett and Jonah of the suggestions above.
Not sure that these fit your criteria but what about:
    Marlin
    Murray
    Ronan
    Zander (or Xander)
    Riley
    Fergus

Out of interest, DS is Bosley, and everyone asks what it means and where it's from (it's old English and means 'grove of trees' but is usually a surname). I love that his name is unusual, but still easy to pronounce and spell - I think! We shorten it to Boz (the shortening part was important to DH and I too!).

Caelan is pretty awesome, so is Liam though its a bit more common now.
Other names we had chosen which are less common were Owen, Callum.

How about Kai, Deisel, Dante, Baiden.

My DS is Quinn. Is Irish/gaelic in origin (both our grandparents are from there, so we chose Irish names for both our kids). It means wise and intelligent!

I found boys names so hard too. When I saw Quinn I loved it though. Our surname starts with a C too.

I have a Nate and I love that name...He's not Nathaniel or Nathan, just Nate. Seems silly to me to name your kids something and then call them something else.

When my boys arrive they will be
    Liam &
    Rhys

Originally Rhys was going to be called Cale (or spelt Cael) as I wanted 2 short Irish names to match with DD, but DH went off it so have instead opted for a Welsh name instead.

Thanks so much for the names! Some good ones in there for us to mull over.

One of my friends called her son Ace...bit out there but suits them.

I also have a dear friend who has named her boys Ochre, Zephyr and Sage. Totally suit her boys!
