Question So she's not really 15kg...

    DD1 has poo "issues"

Lately she has been complaining when pooing, and a couple of times I have had to help her work the poo out cos its been so big its hard for her to get out on her own accord (yes, its just as disgusting as you would imagine!!)

The other day she was at the table and in complete hysterics about doing a poo, I had no idea what was going on with her, she was making such a fuss. However, when I checked her nappy (when she would let me!!) the poo was massive, and as hard as concrete, and her bum had a little lump under it, sorta like she pushed too hard or something, and it damaged it.

So anyway, we took her to the doc the next day, he said that there wasn't any lump so it must of gone away, but referred her for an xray on her tummy.

Results back from the xray - she has a build up of poo in her system, he says there is about a kilo worth of poo stuck in her, blocked up to her intestines.

So we have to get this crap outta her! I've been pumping her full of prunes, prune juice etc in an effort to get it started naturally (the doc wanted us to try this for 3 days before going to medicine to get it to move cos it causes tummy cramps and he didn't want her in any more discomfort) but nothing is moving at the station as yet.

Any suggestions on other natural things to try? not that I'm wanting to deal with a kg of poop any time soon... and I think when it starts I'll be switching to disposables for a while!!!! lol

    Any help would be awesome.

Lots of fruit - does she like juices - maybe trying making her fresh juices?? With DD1 it's cherry tomatos. She eats them (like a while punnet) and things get moving very quickly. Funily enough- the other thing i remember making me have to go to the toilet was heaps of chocolate and grainy bread.

    HTH - good luck. xx

When this happened to us the Dr gave us an enema to give her and this worked really well and no cramps. Not sure if you can buy them over the counter but might be worth give your local one a ring to ask.

Try getting her to have a warm bath. It may help.
I hope she feels better soon.

How do you feel about glycerine suppositories? They can work really well, and available over the counter

Yup got a heat pack. Do you think it would start things moving on their own?

Heaps of chocolate makes me go to the toilet too. She has lots of fruit during the day, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. My IL's just sent me a text suggesting pear juice so I may have to try that.

Ewww an enema!! Poor bugger.. LOL... I'll have to have a chat to the chemist people I think... doh!!

Try getting her to have a warm bath. It may help.

She's had a warm bath every night - and it hasn't helped bring out the poo Sometimes she poos in the bath, but apparently her problem is that she doesn't finish the poo, then it builds up slowly over time - and now she's at the point where she is full of rock hard poop. And we've got to get it out (btw, did you see on jamie oliver once that some kids were full to the point where they were vomiting poo? gross gross gross)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. She just farted in front of me, so maybe the prunes are doing something.. lol

I was going to suggest looking into enemas too. I've seen them recommended for constipation a lot. Also, epsom salt baths can give a bit of the runs.

I would think if that hard and compacted that nothing is going to do much unless you attack from both ends parachoc to take and enema or sups to help at other end.

Good luck the poor thing hope she better soon.

    Brown sugar in warm water...
You can buy a fruit derived laxative that I had to take after my gall bladder op... Works in minutes! You just get it over the counter. I'm guessing that you could use it for kids.
    Coloxal kids drops?
I had this same issue after my op,all the pain killers made me bind up and I couldn't keep any foods down as I was so clogged up. They gave me an enima at the hossy and it all ( and I mean all) came out in minutes... It didn't hurt either as the liquid they put in my bum made it all lubricated... Don't know if that would be an option??
Also milk is a natural laxative too...
Hope she gets some relief soon xo

poor thing, i was going to suggest lots of fruit, steer clear of banana's as they can have the opposite affect (well and they are so damn expensive).
Pears are meant to be really good for it, hopefully it's all over and done with ASAP hun

Some brown sugar in warm water? Regular massages of her tummy? Plenty of water. Porridge or similar for breaky.

Good luck hun. Constipation is horrible in kids. DD used to get constipated when she was little and it was so traumatic and horrific.

Poor little thing! I hope it clears up soon!

Can you try cod liver oil? Not sure if that's ok for young kids but it sure does cause the effect you're after!!

    Good luck xx

    Oh poor darling

I wouldn't be surprised if DS#3 was the same TBH...

We use Coloxyl drops if he hasn't been for a while. That gets him moving after a few doses but then he goes back to nothing again for a while. Problem is DS#3 has a shocking diet.

I wish I knew what else to suggest...

    Goodluck with the poop

Pear juice and warm water with brown sugar. I would also suggest something up the other end to lubricate or help it on the way out.
