    DD's wonky pupil

Since DD1 (2.5yrs) was born the pupil in one of her eyes has not been exactly round. I's sort of just a bit flat on one side iykwim. When she was little I asked the MCHN and the GP and they both looked at it and said it was fine. She can obviously see fine and they both constrict/dilate the same.

Now she's a bit bigger it's more noticible, well to me anyway, and I can also see just inside the pupil (where the flat bit is) a little fleck of colour too.

Anyone else have weird eyes like this??

I am going to get it checked out again JIC, do I take her to an optomestrist??

I would take her to a paediatric opthamologist.... Just to get it checked out properly. I have dd3 going to one as she has turned in eyes (hereditary). I just got a referral through my gp. If youre in S.E Melb, I can recommend one to you.

DH has something very similar to what you described. He has had it all his life and his mum did say it got more noticable as he got older. He says it is his beauty spot on his eye. I would get it looked at anyway, never hurts to get anything checked if their is any concern.

I took dd3.5 years and dd 2 years to an optometrist last week. They were fantastic and did a pretty thorough C
Job of checking their eyes. Some things required comprehension beyond their age but she was able to check for anything major, like squints, turned eyes, major vision issues, she looked at the health of the eye and the optic nerve. She had special animated cartoons for kids and was great with them. I asked my Mchn if there was an optometrist around who was good with kids an got a recommendation. best thing is it is free(bulk billed) to get your eyes checked once a year by an optometrist! :-)
If they thought it was an issue they would recommend you see an opthamologist.

Phoebe doesn't have a 'wonky' pupil, but she's got one bigger than the other. It was discovered by the GP at her 4mo check. We went to the paed pretty urgently (cause it can be a sign of neurological damage) but it is just her little quirk. P's pupils also dilate equally, even though in some lights one is more dilated than the other. It's something she will have to tell all her doctors as she grows older - it's just her thing. (Or one of them anyway!)
I am sure your DD's 'thing' is the wonky pupil But as others have said, see a specialist if it makes you feel better. I find as parents we tend to do all that we can for our kids so that we can reassure ourselves that... well... we've done all we can.

i tend to agree - better to get it checked by a paed opthamologist and have them say it's nothing, than to assume it's nothing, and find out later that it was something that could have been treated more effectively at a younger age

DD has been seeing a paed opthamologist from about 6months - we noticed a turn in her eye and some focussing issues, and given our own history, we got it checked out. so far, she has been left to her own devices, but we're aware that she has some problems that will probably result in glasses at some point. we are just monitoring for now
