Question Would you let him go?

DS and DD1 have nits. Had to pick them up early today from daycare.

We will be treating their hair tonight, got the stuff here.

Problem - DS is supposed to be going to a birthday party tomorrow for a kid at daycare - its at a play centre. He's been looking forward to it so much for ages, since he got the invite.

Guess he can't go tomorrow? Or can he go since we are putting the treatment in his hair? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to nits.

MNB- If your treating his hair tonight babe i would send him. What treatment are you using? It should kill what's in his hair, and then use a nitcomb to get the eggs out. (i still pick through the hair as well but a good nitcomb should get alot out)
Argh, i hate nits!!!! Good luck babe xxxxxxxxxx

I would let him go - he'll be gutted to miss it. And you can always shave most of his hair off before the party if you're worried. That will be good to stop re-transmission even at his daycare.

If your treating him tonight then I cant see why he cant go??

All the brochures we get from school say the best treatment is a thick thick coating of conditioner through the hair and leave for about 10 mins as it stuns the actual lice and also makes the eggs easier to get out. Then go over and over and over it with a fine tooth nit comb before rinsing out the conditioner.

It is such an arse of a job so goodluck. Also they cant live for more than a few hours from the head so dont over stress about the sheets and alike as those buggars would be dead by now :

    Oh good!! He'll be thrilled!!!

I can't remember what treatment we have here is, we used it on him last time, comes with the shampoo and conditioner and not for kids under the age of 4 - so I'm guessing its pretty bloody toxic.. lol

Can I just say - make sure as well as treating, that you get rid of the eggs, or you'll end up with fresh nits in a few days time. Very cheap conditioner and a very fine tooth comb and lots of combing is the best method.

at our kinder the kids can go if theyve been treated the day before. so it shouldnt be any issue at all. truth be told the party child probably has them too

I was also told to retreat in 7 days as that is how long it would take any remaining eggs to hatch. He should be fine, hope he has a great time at the party!

Yep if you treat today he will be fine to go tomorrow
I think conditionaer does a great job...and no harsh chemicals.
For a preventor I have a spray bottle with water, conditioner, tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil and I give their hair a spray before school, or I use it as a detangler for the girls so dual purpose.
