How do i know if its any good?

One of my dreams is to write a novel, and i have decided that its going to be a chick lit/romance as that is all i seem to read anymore!

So, i think one of the key parts to writing this type of genre is nailing the sex scene (pardon my pun!). But how do i know if its any good? I dont want to give it to anyone who i actually know as that would be far too embarassing!

Any suggestions?

I am not so sure about posting it, i think i would rather limit it further so i can control who sees it. Maybe i should just bite the bullet and let DF read it? He is always honest with me, but i have never had him read anything i have written!

there aren't a lot of AO members, so you could ask for access and share the story (there is a naughty stories section) and ask for feedback. there are also some AO stories posted in there which may give you an idea

feedback would depend on making sure you make it clear what SORT of sex scene you're trying to create. is it meant to be romantic? hot and heavy? do you want it to be really descriptive or more suggestive? are you aiming to arouse the reader or simply to describe?

you probably need to have your storyline pretty well fleshed out in your mind so that you know what you're aiming to achieve. there is no point taking the sex scene to soft porn status if the rest of the story is very sedate - and vice verse - you don't want a 150 page build up to the final shag, very descriptive of every touch/kiss/interlude, and then lose the momentum in that scene because it hasn't stayed true to the rest of the story

Thanks BG! I will def think about all of those points, at the moment the one i am working on feels a bit too full on on its own, but i want it to appear pretty seemless with the overall context and style of the story.

I'm happy to give feedback. It would be good to know the context though. As BG said, each scene needs to fit in with the overall story.

BG and L&B its pretty much a guy likes girl, girl likes guy, tension builds, a few things get in their way, some more tension builds until they get together kind of story. This scene obviously being the bit where they get together. To be honest though, it really is quite 'intense' as delphmoon kindly described.
