Question 2 year old speech ?

So my DD has pretty a pretty good vocab. i always get comments at how well/much she can talk.
But lately (and inoticed but didnt say anything but DH actually noticed too which tells you something lol) in the past few weeks/ a month she started not saying things she used to be able to say fine like "bottle" and her favourite show "stella and sam" and other various things..

    is this normal?
She sucks her thumb and we've had a pretty stressful few months and has started sucking it alot more (used to only do it when tired/upset) whereas she seems to be doing it alot more. she tried to talk around it, but everytime she does it with me i take her thumb out and tell her i cant understand what shes saying, and ask her again! (ive asked DH and MIL to do this also)
    Im a little worried..

It could be the stress of the last few mnths (I remember reading about the car accident) has caused some regression or the need to comfort suck and causing issues with her speech.

DS would have problems with his speech when he had an ear ache, he had no other symptoms, didn't complain about his ears hurting or a temperature the only thing was he wasn't talking as well as normal and if you didn't know how well he spoke you wouldn't think anything was wrong. I would see how it goes and take her to the dr's on Monday just to rule anything out.

Our speechy has told us to start weaning off the thumb. The tongue thrust reflex needed to suck can interfere with speech development and cause lisps.
Its hard aye? can you try putting a bandaid on her thumb and taking it off for sleep time?
    Good luck

I would get her ears checked too, my DD sucks her thumb much more when has ear issues but never complains has a temperature or anything, just sucks thumb more and acts up more - and ears can definitely cause speech issues.

But I am sure that my daughter who is also a very good talker and very clear despite her thumb sucking (always getting comments because she hasn't developed inner monologue yet and is always "What is that lady doing", "Where is that man going", "What is that man wearing on his head" etc) also did this where at around 2 she seemed to go backwards a bit with her talking - it didn't last long maybe a few weeks and I think was around the time DS was born.

We also make her take thumb out to talk to us, and she really only ever speaks with it in if she is tired or upset.
