Hey :-)
My DD is 20months and has been in her big girls bed for a week.
It's a big change so I lay with her Til she falls asleep and then leave. Takes her between 5-20mins to fall asleep.
Works for me!
Good luck!

I have put my 2yr old in a bed as of yesterday.
He is just screaming am I supposed to leave him or lay with him until he falls asleep??
He has a projector that plays music and a monitor with a night light on it.
Any advice for the first time mummy would be greatly appreciated.

We put ds in a bed when he was 17 months, and we lay with him til he falls asleep. But we were sitting with him next to his cot before that anyway.
Maybe you could give it a try and then slowly withdraw yourself from his room until he gets used to it?
I have a chair next to my DDs bed, and DH or i sit next to her until she falls asleep. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes, other times it is much longer (almost 2 hours last night). I hope to eventually change to staying til she is settled and then leave and go back and check on her, but i don't think we are there yet.
If you have just moved your little one, he might need reassurance for a few nights and then be ok with going to sleep again.
I would stay with him too. The change could just be unsettling him, once he knows it's all ok I'm sure he'll settle himself more easily![]()
Do what you feel comfortable with. What ever works for you and your family is the right thing to do!
DD 1 is 3 years old. Was 3 in august. me and my two dds get into my bed, i read a book and we all fall asleep together...then i put dd1 in her bed. if, on the odd ocation dd2 falls asleep and dd1 is still awake, normally if dd1 has had an afternoon sleep, then i lay in her bed with her till she falls asleep. once she is asleep and in her own bed, she sleeps till 5am! thats just what works for us, we tried alot of different things! when i was pregnant i tried to get her to self settle for a few weeks but it didnt work out, she wasnt ready. good luck
You do what you feel good with chick.
DS has never slept in a cot, but he has gone into his own bed this year. I sit at the end of the bed. Usually only takes a few minutes. We have the same convo every single night. "You sit with me mama?", "I always sit with you", "You get you book and sit with me." So I do. Often I'm there long after he's fallen asleep lol.
They're only little for such a short time.
If you're happy to sit there until he goes to sleep then I'd recommend that too. DD has been in her toddler bed for several months now but we are on night two in her proper bed (king single) and I'm sitting with her right now. Just until she's settled then I'll sneak out.
It is a massive change for them so I personally think easing then into it by sitting with then helps. I worry a bit that our DD will end up relying on us to sit with her to fall asleep but everything I've worried about parenting wise has worked itself out and hey, she's only little now so I'm just trying to enjoy these moments while they last (even though it can be frustrating at times, lol!)
Do whatever helps him to sleep![]()
