Hi Amanda I've been waiting for more December mummies to start posting
I too had a boy! Alex is my 2nd son, born December 2nd at 25 past midnight. He was 6lb14oz, 50cm and head I think was 33cm. Labour was just under 2.5 hours and I've recovered better than I did with his brother - he was 9lb and a 22 hour labour. So far things are going really well, I feel great and Alex is feeding like a champ and nearly back to his birth weight. Thank god my BB's are starting to settle down!

Wow Archer was a great size! Love his name, I have a nephew named Archer. I like your other son's names too, they were both on my list!

    Look forward to chatting more,
    Danielle

    Hi Danielle
Congratulations on the arrival of Alex! Wow that is a very quick labour, glad your recovery has been good. Good on Alex with his weight! I'm yet to have Archer weighed - our baby clinic is on Mondays so will know how he's doing then. He lost quite a bit in hospital I think around 350g, he had a lot of mucous which wasn't helping as he threw up everything he got from me with it and ended up in special care on a drip .

Oh I'm hearing you on the BB's. I had the worst engorgement, I think my BB's went up to like a F cup (if there is such a thing) and I'm normally a DD. Youch.. and my nipples are still recovering from having cracks and blisters. My right is almost back to normal but the left doesn't seem to want to heal and bleeds when I feed Archer. I think his attachment is ok it only 'hurts' for like the first 10-15 secs then its just like a slight tugging sensation doesn't hurt though. Is this what it's like for you? I'm pretty sure it was the pumping machine in the hospital that has done this to them.

Yes he was a big boy! lol.. I had a dating scan at 39 weeks and was told he would be around 8p 8oz at birth... yeah right. Archer seems to be getting more popular. I actually liked Archie but my DH suggested Archer and I loved it straight away. We had Alex on our list too for a middle name.

I wonder where all the December babies are?
    Talk to you later.

    Hi Amanda and Danielle

Cheezle already knows me from our Belly group I'm Belle and welcomes our beautiful bubby boy Clay on the 5th December... 7lb8oz 52cm long, 34cm head I think?! I was induced but had a few complications and almost ended up with an emergency c-section when Clay's heart rate kept dropping extremeley low, after hours of what felt like nothing happening and me telling the midwife that it was hurting (ha! Not even a word to describe the feeling but hurting was all I could say) they did my final internal expecting to see me still at 2cm and the midwife laughed and I was like what?! What's wrong?! It hurts tho! She goes 'i can see his head babe and he has a teeny bit of hair... it's time for you to start pushing!' I started to cry haha getting teary now too lol, 30 mins later at 5.07pm Clay arrived and we are in love.

I'm the same as you Amanda my bbs are usually a dd but when my milk came in holy owch, my size F maternity bras didn't fit and I stopped trying to figure out their size. The we're so full that I had to express night before last, and then I cried and cried while DH was so confused cos he was like he is still getting the milk just from a bottle? He didn't understand at all! Clay guzzled the ebm down so good and that night e slept like a champ so now we are doing bf'ing in the day and ebm at night and he is such a good boy for us (for now hehe)

All boys so far in here! Took me a
While to find the time to post in here but I've got Clay on my boob while
    Doing tho!

I love both your boys names, I love the strong boy names and I bet your boys suit them to a t

    Hi Belle
Congratulations on Clay.. that is a cool name! Oh the dreaded induction, I was induced with both my other boys and thought I would of been this time too but Archer decided to come by himself which was lovely as I wanted to experience the spontaneity of going into labour ect. Wow that would of been so scary re Clays heart rate dropping. Aw it is soo emotional hey. I feel like I have to have a debrief with my partner after birth to get every detail that I might of missed lol.

Good news with my bb's they have fully settled down and nipples are healing very nicely. Hardly hurts during attachment now which is great! I found those Rite Aid healing discs magic, I wish I had of had them from day dot they are like a disc pad thing that goes over your nipple that promote healing and soothe and oh my they were great. I bought a Medela swing breast pump so I could start pumping and getting a bit of a stash in the freezer for those times we go to DH's mums house (she is 'grossed out' by breastfeeding, 'having a baby attached to her is not her thing' .... strange woman) and I don't like having to sit by myself in another room while I feed.

Archer has only put on 75g in 5 days so the midwife suggested I pump to see how much Im getting and was doubting my supply which made me feel like crapola, I tried it and only got 20mls on the left side, wish I didnt bother, my bb's are fine I reckon and I know I have milk and that he's getting it as he is happy and has lots of wet nappies and sleeps really well ect. Barb ( lactation consultant on here) suggested I feed 20mins then wake him up by changing bottom ect then feed 20 mins on the other side so he gets 2 letdowns and then hopefully that shows on the scales next Monday. Fingers crossed.

How are your babies at night? Archer wakes at about 11pm for a feed then again at about 3am then again at 6-7am so Ive been very lucky and sleeping very well. I hope he keeps this up. He has also been awake a lot more during the day. Do your babies have funny eyes? I find one of Archers looks sorta at something else sometimes like its lazy or something.

Im so enjoying my little man, he is my last baby so Im fully just taking him all in! <3
Hope you both and your babies are doing well.

    Hey amanda

I'm the same I keep asking my DH if I said this and what happened here, and was I loud?! Lol!

Clay is sleeping ok too at the moment, he slept from 11.30-1.30 last night then had 60ml ebm then slept from 2-6 then another 60ml then 6-9am... DH is so cranky cos he is tired, he sleeps thru the whole nigh tho... Poor thing ha!

When I'm pumping I'm getting almost 120ml off each side after Clay has had a feed... Im amazed. Nurse came out today and weighed him and he has gained 400g in 5 days... He loves his boobie milk!

Clays eyes are good, but he is so lazy only opens them a bit never quite wide open.

I have the medela swing too! It's so easy to use don't you think?

Oh and don't let the nurse make you feel crappola! Your doing a good job and he has gained weight not lost it so surely that's showing it's working and wet/soiled nappies is a good sign too that all is going well?! When you pump does archer take the bottle well? Clay seems to guzzle down more milk when ebm in the bottle than his day feeds on the boob if that makes sense....

Archer is having an unsettled morning, not sure whether it's wind or what not but he has wanted to feed all morning it feels like. I know they have a growth spurt around 2 weeks old so that's might what be happening.

Belle - You are a milk machine, good on ya, Im going to try and express after the feed and see what happens. That weight gain is fantastic!
Archer will not take the bottle at all its such a drama, he has a dummy though, he came out sucking so I gave in & he spits it out as soon as he's asleep. The medela swing is awesome, worth every cent of what I paid for it and it isn't even comparable to manual pumping.. I brought mine brand new after I kept being outbid on ebay lol. I never get to watch the end of the auction so kept losing out. The calma bottle you get with it is fantastic hey. Ive never seen such a thing before.

My two other kiddies are being ratbags today, this is my first day alone with the 3 and the two bigger boys are going mad lol.. its going to be a long day.. sigh.

    Hi girls and bubs!

Sorry I haven't been back in until now, I've been using our ipad and I hate typing on it. Got the laptop back out to write my birth story so here I am! Alex had his 2 week check yesterday and is now 3.5kg and has grown 2cm, he's growing up waaaay too quick! Like you Amanda, Alex is our last so I'm really soaking up every minute that I can with him!
I've got DH home for another month thankfully, the few times I've been left with both, they both need me at the same time RIGHT NOW Oh you wouldn't believe what just happened to me...got Alex up for a feed and found he'd wet through everything even his cradle sheet...changed everything and put him on the boob...he poo'ed so change him again where he pee'd all over his clothes and our bed...fully change his outfit and put him back on the boob...go to burp him and he power chucked all over the both of us...he was sitting in a pool of it in my lap...I seriously didn't know what to do first! That wore him out and he's fast asleep now!
I find he sleeps longer during the day still and overnight he's up usually 3 times at least. This is after a late night feed close to midnight. I'm not too fussed as he goes straight back to sleep after his feed. He couldn't possibly be worse than his older brother!

Belle - good to see you in here! Congratulations again on the birth of Clay! Wonder if any of our other Belly Buddies are going to join us? I know what you mean about debriefing the birth, I'm finding Alex's birth has brought up some questions about Moo's and we've talking a lot about the both of them and how different they were. Go you getting to fully dialated like that

Amanda - glad to read your BB's and nipples are better, I still can only fit into a couple of tops so really hoping my BB's deflate a little asap! I haven't noticed Alex with a lazy eye but he does go cross eyed quite frequently. I hope your older 2 calm down and the rest of your day isn't too bad.

Do either of you keep thinking you're still pregnant? Honestly, I keep kinda going "OMG I haven't felt the baby move for ages!" then half a second later realising that of course I haven't and I'm holding him...geez that sounds odd!

    Hey Ladies and boys

How are we all today? Today I went to the shops for an hour and a half by myself and got my nails done, left Clay at home with DH it was weird to drive away from home without my boy.

Danielle – YES, I have to remind myself I don’t have the big belly anymore and when I lay down I am still waiting for big kicks and squirms, it’s odd indeed! Did you get notes from Moo’s birth at all? I read thru the paperwork in the hospital they had in my file but the stuff I was sent home with didn’t have half as much stuff in it... would be good if they gave us copies of it all. Did you get a copy of your maternity booklet before you went into hospital? (did you have one... that should be my first question lol, I had this little blue book that my Dr filled out each visit and then when I was in hospital they took it and never gave it back? It had all my pregnancy records in it I wish I copied it)

Oh no that sounds like a fun (not) time with all the changes of pee and poo and spew... very glamorous!!Maybe it is today, I got poo’d on twice! TWICE!! haha

A whole month of DH home, I am very jealous!! My DH works FIFO and will be going back to work for 2 weeks after christmas, I dont want him to go back EVER... but such is life, work is a must wahhhh

Amanda – Is Archer a bit more settled this evening? Clay is my first so I’m so new to all of this, so I should expect a growth spurt around 2 weeks? I didnt get the calma bottle with mine! Ripped off! I am using the tommy tippee bottles and Clay is taking them so easy, I am really surprised. What do you do with your EBM if Archer isn’t taking the bottle, do you just tip it out?

As for me! Clay has slept nearly all day it feels today, so I am guessing we are in for a bit of a fussy night. We went and bought a touch lamp for beside my bed because my lamp is so bright at night its blinding! It was Clay’s first trip out other than parents places and he slept in his capsule the entire time. We went for our first walk in the pram today and once again my little man slept the entire time lol. I tried to walk semi fast but I got this weird pain in my side, my body is so unfit right now... I cant wait to be fit again.

Hello ladies I have been searching for this thread using the phone.

Anyway, Dominic arrived on the 6th of December 17:08, after quite a traumatic time (haven't yet had the will to let anyone know the story) weighing in at 4.7kg, length of 55cm, HC 37cm.

He is gorgeous and I just love watching him do anything. Right now I think he is letting a stinker go in his sleep.

Congratulations to everyone joining this group xxx

    Hi Ladies!

Congratulations on your December bubs! Just joining in if that's ok?? My Little Princess Scarlett was born at 3:16am on 12/12/11

She was weighed as 8lb4oz but we knew she wasn't that big and soon realised that she had been put on the scales with a blanket that wasn't zeroed so at 2 days old had her reweighed and she came back as 6lb 13oz then.. A bit sad about that as I'll never know what she weighed at birth now We estimate in the early 7's, my DS was 8lb12oz and she is tiny compared to him!

Length was 54cms and HC 34cms. Vaginal Birth, long labour that stalled, then ramped up quite quickly and DD was born with just 3 small pushes! I feel great! Amazing how quickly a body can bounce back, maybe it's a second time around thing, I feel very lucky whatever it is!

She is so gorgeous and has a crazy amount of thick long dark hair, we are continuously being stopped out in public for people to exclaim they've never seen a baby with as much hair as her.. We're just smitten

I'm pretty close with my DS's Baby Buddies Group form November 09 so looking forward to getting to know all the girls in here as well! Maybe we should start up a Private Facebook Group once everyone is a bit more settled and comfortable?

How are sleeping & feeding going for everyone?? We have been quite lucky with both and no major issues. Sleep is great, we did have a hiccup with breastfeeding attachment just yesterday actually, my nipples were so sore I was dreading feeds but after a bit of a crash course in attachment, I'm healing well and feeling much less discomfort so can definitely see this is hopefully going to be successful journey, I'm proud to have even gotten to just 6 days old with just the booby milk as my DS had his first taste of formula at 2 days old due to me being uneducated about what BF'ing took and him being soooo hungry. He wouldn't sleep and was just starving, I was exhausted and a friend said "Just give him a bottle" this started a cycle of comp feeding and supply diminishing and I could never satisfy his hunger without formula again, it was too heartbreaking so at 6 weeks I stopped trying altogether It was a big deal for my to breastfeed this time so I am pretty excited it's working out! Probably helps that DD isn't as big and hungry as DS was too!

Well, I've chewed enough of your ears off, I like to talk, can you tell?! haha! Congratulations on all of your bubs! Looking forward to getting to know you all!

    Hey girls and bubs!

Belle - glad I'm not the only one even today I could've sworn I felt a kick! I did get some notes from the birth, I think it's 3 pages all up and I was meant to give it to my GP but I photocopied it first! Ah yep I did have the pregnancy record until Friday when my midwife came over for our last visit and took it with her good ol' baby brain here didn't think to copy that one! Drats! I bet you're relishing having your DH around now before he leaves again, what does he actually do again? Glad to hear you got out on your own while you can, do you have much support once he's gone again? Did Clay end up having a bit of a fussy period around 2 weeks? Little Buster here sure did, fed more and cried more for a few days but seems to be more settled now.

Williever - great to see you in here! Sounds like you had a bit of a rough time sorry to hear, hope you're feeling okay. I'm sure you did a great job bringing him into the world. My first birth was pretty awful and I think I was in shock for weeks afterwards, keep talking about it as much as you need to.

Alicia - congratulations on the birth of your daughter What a shame about her not being weighed correctly, I can understand why you'd be upset. Maybe it is a 2nd baby thing as I have felt fantastic since having Alex too (well apart from a cold and a crook neck!), I couldn't walk for about a week after my first so it's a huge difference! I'm all for a FB group, would be good to put names to gorgeous bubby faces So glad to hear breastfeeding is going well, the sore nipples will get better, have you got any Lansisoh cream? I used that for the first week or so and it certainly helped with the pain. Feeding is going well for us, sleeping is not that great but I'm not fussed as Alex is just too cute! He has his day/night mixed up so he feeds more frequently at night and has longer stretches during the day, but he'll sort that out eventually. How is your older one taking to the new arrival?

I had an appt with the MCHN today and found that Alex has put on over a kilo since birth and grown 3cms...still smaller than his big brother was at birth though bless his little cotton socks. He is a chucky baby so I was quietly amazed he'd taken any milk in! What's everyone giving their newbies for xmas? I felt a bit silly wrapping up his pressies seeing we'll be the ones opening them but ah well! Have had a not so great week unfortunately - have had an awful cold plus badly hurt my neck from not sitting properly when feeding, I was in tears over the weekend from the pain! Told DH I'd rather give birth again! Have had a couple of physio sessions and having another tomorrow, it's slowly getting better but still sore, have to constantly remind myself to stop slouching!

    Hi everyone
Finally found the time to move over

Just a quick run down before I go for a nap

After having feeding problems, expressing like a cow and being readmitted via emergency department for exhaustion and terribly painful stitches we have decided to formula feed baby which has been really hard for me to accept emotinally but a hell of alot easier to get rest and share the load with dh who has been a great help but doesn't quite understand why I'm so upset about not breastfeeding

Jelly, sorry you've had a rough start, are you still in hospital or back home? I know you were keen to breastfeed Eliya and I can understand why you're disappointed. Sounds like you're doing what's best for both you and bub though. Hope you start feeling a bit more rested!
