    Gold coast resort for toddlers

We are thinking of going to the gold coast and would like some recommendations for a great resort for ds who is 14 months.

Not a resort as such but we stayed in an apartment in the Towers of Chevron Rennaisance - good pool for toddlers as it has a beach at one end for wading. Also above a shopping complex which has lots of restaurants and cafes and for us most importantly a supermarket! We mixed up cooking/takeaway/eat outs as have found it too taxing with kids in the past. Buses all bout and right in the thick of it all.

I don't know any from personal experience but I just saw one advertised by the Zagame group called Paradise Club

Mak, it's great to not have to eat out!

Rhi, paradise is about the only one I knew of, I looked it up but think it may not be so good or ds at 14 months but much better for older kids?

We recently stayed at the Towers of Chevron too, it was fantastic!!! We got an amazing deal on one of the last minute sites and ended up paying less than a regular hotel room - and we had two bedrooms and a kitchen! The lagoon pool is great for little ones as Mak mentioned.

I think having a separate bedroom is great with little ones so they can have a day sleep and you don't have to worry about waking them up while you potter around.

We will definitely stay there again.

we have just been to Hamilton Island with DS (18 months) and it was perfect. Not sure if that counts as the gold coast?

we rented an apartment privately - was cheaper than the hotel, and much MUCH bigger - two big bedrooms, two bathrooms, walk in robes in both, kitchen, laundry ... etc ... and you can still use all the pools and beaches at the main resort, etc, and you can borrow a high chair and cot.

there's a supermarket so you can get your own food and cook at the apartment if you don't want to eat out all the time, and there's a kids club at the main resort if you and your DH want a few hours (or a whole day) to yourself, if you want to plan a rendezvous or two ... The fees are comparable to normal day care, and the hours are 8.30-5pm. You can also rent a stroller and bags of toys from the kids club, if you don't want to lug yours from home!

and you can get direct flights to hamilton - you don't have to chop and change planes anymore

thoroughly recommend it as a venue.

there are 2 holiday parks there that are good, treasure island and ashmore palms, they both have cabins (from basic or with full facilities - kitchen, laundry etc), several pools, playground. the thing i like about them is they are ideal with small children, high rise buildings make me nervous while the kids are small

We have been to the Paradise one and I thought it was a bit 80's gold coast and a bit run down. We have stayed in a nice apartment at Labrador. It was right across from a park and had a pool. It wasn't a resort as such though just an apartment block but nice and not so expensive. I could look it up if you are interested in that kind of thing.

Your a legend Keryalyss, have to giggle though as I'm always picking on dh saying that he loves the 80's lol Normally I would be interested in a cheaper place like what you have mentioned but for this trip we will be pretty much staying in the resort the entire time as I can't walk around. So we will basically be going from our room to the pool to the play areas etc and dh will play with ds on all the stuff while I watch (and probably eat) hahaha. We are not getting out over the 6 week period so thought we could at least get ds away and wear him out each day while on a holiday I've had another look at the Paradise place and think I will see if that will work for us. Thanks everyone!

We recently stayed at the Chevron Towers also and it was great - However the indoor pool is being renovated and we had a few chilly Days (Oct) and the outdoor pool is COLD. The apartments are nice, clean etc and its very close to amenities - eg there is a Coles / Chemist / Liquorland downstairs with other assorted shops, we enjoyed our stay

However the last two times we went, we stayed at the Crown Towers, just down the road - the only reason we didn't stay there this time is because it was booked out. The Crown is much more spacious (the apartments are bigger and better set out), the whole place is more quiet and has a separate kids/toddlers pool and playground as well as a large sandy bottom main pool, and it has the best Thai restaurant in the world within the complex - Changmai Thai!! Oh, and they have a beauty spa on site - highly recommend them, DH and I had divine couples massages - bliss!!

While the Chevron is slightly better location wise, IMO the Crown is more family friendly and relaxing. Next time we go we'll be making sure we book in time to get the Crown, though having said that I have no problem with staying at the Chevron again

    HTHs - Enjoy your holiday!!

We have just come back from the GC, we stayed at Treasure island for a week and one at Paradise resort. Loved them both, TI had great food, a fantastic camp kitchen and a jumping pillow the kids loved. Without a car it's a fair trek from the main part of the gold coast, but we had driven up, we are planning on going back.
Paradise resort is undergoing rennovations, but there is now an awesome splash park which the kids loved. The food was ordinary but our room was fine and the kids had 4 hours in the kids club which have qualified staff so that was great for us, but for a family of 5 it's exxy at $220 a day. If the rooms had a kitchen I would have been happier, but I would go back for a day or two as the break was great for me and dh.

Ah I looove jumping pillows. I was always a bit blah about them till DS and I went up to a caravan park at Yeppoon and I could have jumped the whole day. I even had a dream about it that's how much I loved it.
