    Getting things going after SROM??

So...my waters broke at 1.40am and now...not much is happening? The odd period like pain very low but no show etc or any serious contractions I'm in hossy cos I'm gbs+ and my last labour was quite fast but this seems to be fizzling what can I do? I'm walking around my room etc...

Can you go for a walk outside? Get some fresh air. Go up and down some stairs.

You dont want to wear yourself out too early. But you want bub to feel gravity. Bouncing gently on a fit ball may help. Also visualisation. Imagine your cervix opening and softening, baby getting into position.

    Good luck

If bubs is posterior, get down on your hands & knees for a while.

My waters broke at 8:30am and I didn't go into labour until 10pm so can understand how frustrating it is! I found gentle bouncing on the fitball very relaxing, walked around the hospital a bit, took the fitball in the shower...Hope things pick up soon, will be looking out for a BA.

A quick walk worked for me on Sunday We took the stairs and took a quick stroll outside. I did about 10 minutes of pelvic rocking (so standing up and kind of dancing, swinging my hips around) while chatting to our midwife prior to our walk too.

Good luck! Looking forward to your BA!

Have you tried nipple stimulation? See if the MW's can bring you a pump (worked for my sister after her waters broke). Good Luck!

Clary sage oil and walking helped with DD2 as thigns were slow to get going after I had PROM. DD1 I was tired and had a nap for a bit then things started on their own.

Dont over do it with walking as you dont want to wear yourself out before labour begins

Alternating resting and walking, like LionsandBears said, you don't want to wear yourself out. If you're worried aobut leaking, use the maxi - pads that you've probably bought for after the little one arrives now - I found they were the only ones where I wasn't feeling constantly like I'd wet my knickers I found kneeling down and lying over the fitball quite relaxing (although didn't help prevent DD from being posterior) but spend some time on all fours too.

Good luck, hope its not too long a wait - it can be very frustrating!

    belly dance!
as in the swaying of the hips and what not. yes it sounds nuts but i did that while in labour with DJ and it helped things move along (granted i wasnt leaking) and it also helped me relax. or i third the fitball with some funky music.

Take it easy and enjoy, may be another day yet before things get going.
Just try and avoid being pressured to go into the hospital, avoid VEs like the plague and refuse the antibiotics if you do go in for at east 48 hours.

    Good luck!!!

I missed the bit in your first post where you said you were in hosp as you were GBS+. I had the same with DS, so went to hospital after an hour of SROM to be given a cannula. Luckily, the labour ward was really busy so I was put on an antenatal ward, given until the next morning (so 33+ hours) and told to walk by my mw. So maybe ask if you could be given a bit longer before they start trying to help you along, say 24hours or so. FWIW, my labour with DD took 16hours to start and with DS took 24hours to start after SROM.
