7.5 months old & not sleeping through

The twins are BF and almost 8 months old but still waking twice a night each usually its a 5 min comfort feed/top up and back to sleep. Im coping with it but always tired. Is it ok at this age to be like this or do i need to do something?
    Any tips on longer sleeps?

Sounds normal to me I'm afraid. DD is 2.5 and still waking once a night at least 4 nights out of 7 (sorry!). She was up 2 or 3 times a night, every night at that age. Can't imaging how exhausting it is with 2 though. Oh wait, I can. DS is awake again and it's 12.15am! Now to resettle him so I can close my eyes for 5 mins before DD is awake. ZzzzZzzzzzZZZzz.

    Yep, totally normal.
As for longer sleeps..nope, not really! They will figure that out in their own time.

Things have just started improving here, sleep wise. In the last week Miss A has only woken at around 5 am (although last night she woke at midnight also - but I'm blaming the heat)
She will be 9 months old on boxing day.
I find the wonder weeks app to be really useful as it's fairly predictable when they are likely to have a bad few weeks, meaning more overnight waking.
Hang in there, it must be so much harder with 2

It's great to hear you are letting them go with their natural rythms and not trying to force them to do something that they obviously aren't ready for.

I hear you on the being so tired and needing more sleep but that is just not what my DD is ready to do. At about the 8 month mark my DD went back to the newborn pattern and was waking every 2-3 hours. So not the direction i wanted to go. As she was fed to sleep i just had to go with it as otherwise it involved a lot of crying. Just recently i have had enough and have been in the process of making some changes, trying to change the feed to sleep pattern and how she is actaully put to bed. I'm trying to help her fall alseep in her own bed (very minimal crying involved). We're getting there and i must say her quality of sleep which has never been good does seem to be improving.

From my experience i would say there is nothing unusual about your little ones patterns at the moment. It's more so your choice when you feel the need to make some changes to suit your family.

Mine were over a year before they stopped breastfeeding overnight, and they didn't sleep through the night until....well they still don't some nights and they will be 4 next month. But probably 2 before they ever did it. I feel your pain with the tiredness though, it's very hard.

Thanks i wasnt worried about it until a fill in MCHN was disgusted that they were still waking as many times as they do and because they dont have huge naps during the day and telling me i was doing something wrong and to stop BFing as its obvious they need more blah blah blah i could have slapped her, its not like we arent coping the way things are.

^^ Don't listen to the MCHN! You are doing a great job! My 4 yo doesn't always 'sleep through', last night she woke numerous times then come in & slept with us.....

Yep, I agree with the pp's. Totally normal, you're lucky even! My 11mth old wakes anywhere between 2-10 times a night (unfortunately no, I'm not joking). My 3yr old, 1-3 times a night, my 4 1/2yr old maybe 0-2 times a night , but not every night. So I pretty much live in a sleep deprived haze and have since DD was born! If you really think about it, even before you had kids, I bet you woke up most nights too!

Tow tally normal. And definetly take no notic of the mchn, I would of liked to see what she would of said to me. My now 3.5ye old feed every 2-3hours overnight till just after 2 years of age. She also gave up day sleeps all together by 16months, and before that only slept for 30-40 min surfing the day from 4 months.

    Just go with the flow.
