An ear ache - hospital or GP tomorrow?

DD has had an ear ache all day but panadol and aqua ear drops seemed to make it better and I left it at that because our GP wasn't open today.

Now it's bedtime and the panadol isn't helping as much - she's in a lot of pain. She doesn't have a temperature at all and isn't acting unwell except for it hurting her.

I'm not sure what to do next - if she was burning up I would be more inclined to take her to the hospital but I don't want to put us through hours of waiting if she could sleep and see her GP first thing anyway.

I want to fix it for her without hours of waiting at the hospital

Do you have some nurofen? She can have a dose of panadol and nurofen at the same time to help with the pain. I think nurofen is supposed to be better for pain and panadol better for fever..?? (LOL, I think it's that way around!) TBH, I would just wait it out til the morning if she hasn't got a fever or other symptoms other than saying it hurts. Maybe once she's in a deep sleep it will be ok?
I hope she's better tomorrow and the night isn't a long one for both of you!

Would laying that side of her head on a soft covered hotwater bottle / warmed wheat pack help at all?

I would be inclined to stick it out the night, but try and prop her up a bit as it hurts more lying down.

Are the any late night pharmacies where you could go get some nurofen or see what the pharmacist suggests for her age?

I would wait till tomorrow. FYI nurophen is an ani inflammatory, so help relieve inflammation.

Thanks so much for the replies - she is sound asleep now. We had neurofen and panadol so I've given her both and will again if she wakes up in pain during the night.

I feel so sorry for the poor little thing - why do they have to get sick on the weekends? Lol

    Thanks again!!

This is what I was told to do when I came crying into my parents bedroom with a sore ear. I took their advice and after struggling to fall asleep was fine afterwards (the only time I had a really sore ear when I was like 7)
