I was on it as a teenager (about 13-14) and lost weight. I think I would have lost around 10kgs. I kept it off til I finished high school, got an office job and move in with my boyfriend (now hubby) and hit the booze every weekend XD then I had kids. Need I continue?
I can't remember prices. My parents paid for it.
Tbh if I were to join a weight loss group now I'd do weight watchers. There more about choosing healthy, more filling options and living a healthier life style over restricting one meal a day to a shake and eating lettuce the rest of the time.
My mum did herbalife for years and her weight yo-yo'd and she ended up gaining an extra 20kgs on top of her weight. She spent $110-$120 a week.
I agree that weight watchers would probably be beneficial you get to learn how to eat better. Herbalife is good if you want to lose weight quickly just not practical for long term.
I have a problem with chronically skipping meals.. I have done it for over 10 years, maybe even 12 years. I usually can only eat 1 meal a day. I have seen a great dietician, and I know how to eat healthily (ironically the minute I eat 3 meals a day I lose weight), but it is a real struggle to make myself eat, and especially having a special needs child who needs a lot of my time, I end up not eating.
I'm just trying to get myself into a pattern of eating 2 meals as shakes (at least that way when I'm driving DS to specialist appointments I can have one) and then slowly once I can let myself have that time, to change back over to normally meals. Dinner will stay normal, which are pretty healthy and done in consultation with the dietician.
Ironically I used to bag out people who used this as a method of weight loss, as it is so artificial, but I'm just trying to get something into my body until I can re-teach myself that eating is not a special rewards for when everything else is done.
What about Jenny Craig, you don't have to get all the meals. My Mum just started on this and is doing her own breakfast. I know she paid about $120 for the first week.
Another Mum is doing Lite n Easy and has lost a bit of weight in the few weeks she has been on it. Not sure about the cost.
The meals aren't kosher, otherwise I would do it in an instant.
That's why I feel like my only option is meal replacements, then weaning onto proper meals. I might try and pay somebody to come and help me prepare lunch & dinner at the same time, and teach me some choices so I don't feel so overwhelmed by preparing food
I did it about 20 years ago and lost weight. I quite liked it but there a lot of tablets to take as well as the shakes. I wouldn't do it now but I can see that it might work for you with the need for it being kosher and the way you currently eat. It could be a good interim step to better eating.
I ended up getting a protein powder called Vital Protein (from pea's), it is reasonably drinkable (I got the vanilla flavour as I don't like chocolate flavour anything), my moods & energy have been so much better. Haven't weighed myself since before I started 1.5 weeks ago, but just having something easy I can grab is worth it for me. I got a tub of 1kg and it was $60
