2 girlfriends of mine have tried it.
They used it for weight loss and lack of energy.
Both lost weight and found they had more energy.
It's similar to a methamphetamine, isn't it? Or is it amphetamine? Always get confused!
    Similar to speed?

Yes ive tried it, and yes it is a legal form of speed, mind you i tried it about 7 years ago now, the ingredients could have changed.
Yes i lost weight, 7kg in the month, however my mood swings were terrible, up, down, up, down, even i couldnt handle it let alone those i lived with.
about a week after i started taking it i couldnt sleep, i didnt need to sleep, i could survive easily on 3hrs max, i had no appetite, i had to force myself to eat anything.
the only actual good thing was that i had more energy, but it was obviously fake energy.
It took a long long time afterwards for me to get back to any normalcy, as in sleeping, mood swings and eating, but the weight was back on in 8 weeks, even though i wasnt eating that much.
my family went nuts at me when they realised what id been on.
thats just my experience with it.

I would advise you not to take it. My girlfriend took it and she changed within a few days of having it, and after taking it for almost a month, she was unable to sleep, really terribly moody, and just horrible to be with. She did lose weight, and her mind! She would be up at two am scrubbing the shower tiles with a toothbrush. She couldn't think straight because she had so many thoughts going through her head, she had heart palpatations, dry mouth, upset tummy....It was really horrible.

I'd advise not to take it. It is seriously horrible!!
I took it for 2 days and it messed with me big time. I was spaced out the whole time and it was a horrible horrible feeling. It definitely was not worth it for me. If you search back a couple of years ago there is another thread or two on it. Well worth a read Xx

OK. So I had togoogle to see what this drug is that you are talking about. Is it legal in Australia???

Because this is what I found in some of the FAQ from a site selling it:
    Q. Does my order pass successfully Australian / or any other customs?
    A. Customs are often strict to the parcels containing medication that’s why we always use discreet packaging for all our orders to avoid any possible issues. Most orders arrive at the destination point in a timely manner but if your order is seized by customs or lost we will replace it by no cost or return your money alternatively.

    Q. What if I have problems with the law buying Duromine / Generic Phentermine online?
    A. As you know Phentermine is a controlled medicine, so it can be seized at the destination country customs. We use discreet packaging to minimize the risk of your parcel being seized. If your order is confiscated the customs officer may also send you a letter declaring your item seized. There is no prosecution in such cases

Yes it's legal. It's a prescription medication. That site is trying to sell it without prescription.

Yep, legal like Sushee said. It's very expensive though. I paid about $110 for the box.

Just the thought of it makes me feel horrid.

i have taken it in the past and i would not recommend it.
it is very similar to being on speed. yes you will lose weight, but as soon as you stop you will put it all back on and then some.

it's legal if prescribed - but most GP's will avoid prescribing it and some will flat out refuse.

it's not a nice drug - it is essentially speed - it alters your metabolism, moods, hunger etc.

my dad was on it long term for his inability to lose weight due to physical disability. it wasn't nice - at all! this was long before it became a hard to get drug (with good reason IMO)

it doesn't really help you lose weight - it seems to, but it's due to the immediate impact of the drug - as soon as you stop taking it, the weight goes back on because it's a pseudo-change to your metabolism kwim? your body almost goes into withdrawal from the drug and goes in the opposite direction (slow metabolism) which makes you put on more weight when you're eating less.

i would personally warn anyone against it. i've seen the effects of both short term and long term use and i wouldn't suggest anyone go there. i've also seen the results of abuse of the drug (extracting just the speed portion) for people having to stay awake long hours for work etc - it's not pretty at all

the ingredients have changed - it is no longer "legal speed"

My bestie is on it and is finding it brilliant for her, she's lost 30kgs already, got about 10-20 to go, her doctor changes the strength drug she is on depending on how her weight loss is going.

Any weight loss drug will inevitably fail.

You will lose weight for the duration but then it is extremely difficult not to put it back on when you stop taking it.

If I were you, I'd pass.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I expected these responses as I had my suspicions that it isn't the magic pill that it appears.

This drug is intended to be prescribed for the morbidly obese...being people with a BMI over 40 (which is me ) I was wondering how many people prescribed this drug are actually the intended users. Maybe the side effect would be less severe? My sister was on it and I was amazed. Yes she is overweight but maybe 10-15kg overweight- certainly not morbidly obese.

Basically I was thinking it would be a short term option for me to help me get moving, not as a long term weight loss solution. Part of my problem at the moment in losing weight is the physical difficulyt I have with exercise. I am reluctant though because of all these horrid side effects

I take it she was very overweight to start with? I am wondering if the side effects are less severe in people who need to loose alot of weight.

no, the side effects are not related to how much weight you have to lose
it's related to your own reactions to the medication - as it is with any medication. for me, i would be stupid to take it, as even the one time i had red bull, i had a seriously scary reaction to it. phenergan (which is supposed to calm you down really) sent my heart rate out of control to the point that it was bordering on hospital and possible defib paddles to try and stop what it was doing. yes, i'm a big person but i have a very trim friend who has a similar reaction to phenergan. some children are sedated by phenergan, others go hyper

i wouldn't ever think that size would have any bearing on the number or severity of side effects from a medication

It has very very yucky side effects. The first time I took it. I treated it like a magic pill and it sucked. The second time I took it I worked hard, exercised, forced myself to eat well and regularly and changed my life habits. I lost 17kgs the first time and kept it off for a year. But it wasn't the drug that did that. It was me. I only took it for 2 months. If you are not lazy minded it works. I've used it lazily and not lazily. And I got better results the second time when I put in the work. It stopped me from eating sure, but you stop taking the drug you get hungry again. Most people who don't exercise have lots of trouble. I was on the treadmill every 2nd day and walking and heaps of other things. It helped me train myself to eat smaller portions (I should to eat the same as a child due to the PCOS) but I started doing that BEFORE I took the drug. A ****ty year later I'm back on the band wagon, but in that crap year I didn't gain it back. So I maintained some of the things I learnt. I go up and down still, but mostly I'm on the way down. With two simple rules, I don't put food in my mouth as much and I exercise. Crazy talk I know. And for someone who bakes and loves to cook that's actually pretty easy... I get to share the love more Oh did I mentioned I changed my mindset?

Sopdet it's still the exact same drug. That is just a rumour.
