    Sore Ankle

The last 2 days i've found i have quite a sore ankle but i have no idea what i may have done to it IYKWIM.
3 days ago i found a bruise on the inside of my ankle near the bone, showed DP i have yet another unexplained bruise but it hadn't hurt etc etc.
Wednesday night i went out with some lovely BB girls and as i was leaving i noticed my ankle was actually quite sore when i put pressure on it, but didn't think much of it at the time and though maybe i had just twisted it and not noticed.

Yesterday i woke thinking it was ok, walking seemed not too bad but as soon as i weight bared on it it killed, i kept it elevated last night in bed and it's still quite sore today, if i weight bare it hurts quite a bit, looks slightly swollen compared to the other ankle, no bruising outside of the one i found the other day but when i deliberately press my ankle down it 'feels' different (aside from the pain) to my other ankle.

    Any ideas?

I haven't as far as i know twisted my ankle or slipped so i'm stumped.

I'd get it checked, may be just a sprain but if you can't weight bear at all I would be concerned

You may not have noticed twisting it lovely. Strap it and use ice to reduce the swelling. A trip to a Physio would be a good idea. I have a brilliant one if you want his details.

Do you have weak ankles or hurt that one before? If you've injured it prev it will be prone to further injury.

I've got dodgey ankles but there's always been a reason
I have strapped it so it's not loose & floppy in bed, will ice it in the morning if it's still sore. I drove the 40min home from bingo & it's KILLING!

Just another thought, have you been walking a lot lately? Your shoes might be on their way out and not offering the correct support

No walking (well not more than normal), strapped it over night and it's still sore.
    Might ice it this morning.

If its floppy, you need to keep it strapped for a few days especially when walking. And you need to strengthen your ankle muscles! There's loads of exercises to do that like doing figure eights with your ankle in water, walking barefoot in sand, flexion exercises, wobble boards etc.

How long has it been sore now? Anything more than 3-4 days you should really get it checked.

Today will be the 3rd day, GP won't be open again til Monday I think.
Will keep it strapped & ice it today & see how we go.

What are you using to strap it? You want an elastic "ace" type bandage not crepe. You poor thing! I've done my ankles numerous times and it sucks!

It's the stretchy elastic style, we had it after mark did his ankle last year.
It's not the soft material one.

Strapped above & below the ankle, tightly but not to the point of cutting off circulation

I've been on crutches something like 6 times due to sports injuries on my ankles, but atleast with those i know what i did, stupid sports injuries

Injuries suck. I'm always injured - its a running joke with my trainer and myself

Hope it feels better soon hon.

What's everyone else doing today? I'm sitting Hal watching Dd's dance lesson then she wants to hit the pool. Tossing up between pool and beach... Plus training and stretch session depending on how hot my training space is.

House work today, might blow up the kids pool later for them and ice my foot in there

hope it starts feeling ok soon ZF - i have dodgy ankles too and it takes nothing to make them hurt like all hell! e jumped on my leg on the couch the wrong way the other day - hurt my knee and hip at the time, but now it's my ankle playing up - so i must have walked a bit oddly to counter the ouchies elsewhere and put strain on my ankle... although my wrist hurts too so it may be due to something else (fluid retention/swelling due to warmer weather maybe??)

we make an awesome pair - it's my left side that is hurting at the moment! stopped me sleeping most of last night!
