My whole tongue is covered in ulcers at the moment. 5 that I can count. Eating is painful. Talking is painful. My tongue hurts just sitting in my mouth.
I used to get ulcers heaps and then started using mouthwash morning and night. Seemed to keep them at bay. But the last few weeks have been terrible. Don't know if it is pregnancy related or not.
What do you do for ulcers?
Anyone have any idea why they'd be back now?
Should I go see the GP and ask why I am getting recurrent ulcers?
My mum gets mouth ulcers really badly - and the doctor has given her something to take for it - and am sure there is something she is deficient in (will ask her when UK wake up) - so yes I would go back.
The other thing is - any chance you have never been exposed to Hand, Foot, Mouth virus before and have recently - e.g. via the kids (is rife round daycare normally)? My DD that was the only symptom a mouth full of ulcers - doc said a chance you can get as adult but not that likely because most people have early on in life.
I got bad ulcers early on in my pregnancy... ouch =(
and old home remedy my nan taught me, is put cold teabags in your mouth, so soak them so they are wet and just sort of suck on them.. doesn't taste fantastic but does help.
I posted about it when I had mine and someone mentioned something about vit C deffiency, so might be worth thinking about that... mine was also made worse cause of the whole throwing up morning sickness thing, the stomach acid made them 10X as bad.
Ooowwwchhhies babe, they suck. I had a heap on my tongue and mouth from stress a while back and they are awful. I use Bonjela and avoided anything acidic. xoxox
I get them really bad as well OP, I have all my life.
I normally get them when I am run down, as well as cold sores (yes im normally a sight for sore eyes!!!). I use SM33 which you can buy from the chemist, it tastes like shyte but does the job, also try and stock up on Vitamin C and get lots of rest!
I get them bad too. PITA. I have one on my tongue now. I use sm33 to numb it when it really hurts and so I can eat. But also 'kenalog' which you can get from the chemist, helps to heal them up way faster! Not sure if it's ok when pregnant though.
I tend to get them when low in vitamin b - early on in this pg I had a few ouchy ones and just had a berocca or multi-vit b tablet (not sure which variety of vit b I was low in) and that cleared mine up fairly quickly.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so sorry if I'm confusing you
Weak warm salt water swishing, half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of water. This something they tell chemo patients to do with theirs. There is also a numbing mouthwash (cepacol or similar) that you can use to get the pain levels down just before eating. Hope they're better soon.
I'd get checked out JIC. Also def ask about taking Vit B and Lysine when pregnant. DH has struggled with ulcers and this sorted it out after about 18months of suffering!
