mine was on the back of my thigh so I'm not 100% sure what they did. They put local anaethetist in (this did have a bit of a sting to it), removed the mole with a clearance boundary (sent it off to pathology to be checked), whacked a few stitches in, popped a dressing over it and had a short course of oral AB's just to be careful. Went back a week or so later to have the stitch out. I was comfortable that night but did need panadol for a day or two more because of the location.
Best of luck. The thought of it is worse than the actual removal.

Forgot to say take a book/iPod or something to keep you distracted and have a special treat planned for afterward. I went out for a coffee & my favourite bakery cupcake

It's pretty simple, they give you a local anesthetic then they cut the mole out then stitch you up. It only takes a few mins. You'll be fine.

Like pp, local and then cut out with the clearance. Then stitched up and a dressing put on. From memory the dr gave me an extra dressing and instructions on showering with the dressing. Then back for results a week or two later.

Mine was on my chest. I'm a nurse so have fairly good hold on my guts and I found it all a bit gross. I think it was that tugging feeling and I could sort of see in the mirror above. I was glad DH drove me. Mine was very large and I decided to do it awake so maybe my own fault

    Hugs. Can someone drive you?

the clinic is only 5 mins from home, and DH will be home with the kids, so i have to drive myself.

i'm not too worried about the pathology, fairly certain it is fine, it's just the procedure. some of it is just silly (i'm breastfeeding and hope i don't leak!). But i can't stand being held down or feeling like i am. i know i won't be able to just say 'stop, i ve changed my mind' once it starts' so trying to think it through now so then i can just go to my 'happy place' whilst it is happening. not looking forward to the tugging feeling, yuk.

Maybe you could take a light sedative to keep you calm?

I had one out on my back about 10 years ago - 3 anaesthetic needles, then cut it out and about four stitches. Wasn't allowed to get it wet for a week.

Hun I've had two taken off - two when I was a teen and two just recently. The two recently were low down on my tummy and on my shoulder.

I had them both done at the same time, by my GP. She did a local, which stung, then I felt nothing apart from some weird pushing and pressure which I guess was the removal, then the tugging as she stitched.

I did need a bit of panadol after but I was bf too - it was just after DS was born - and nothing happened in the milk department

My shoulder hurt more because of where/what it is - higher use area, less fatty tissue so more pain.

I am a bit of a sook - apparently I can birth an almost 11lb baby without pain relief but I get teary with a local sting

It really is just a quick sting and it's done. Like an immunization.

Hope that helps. You're doing a good thing.

I've had one cut out of my chest, up in the décolleté area... Yours is closer on your breast isn't it? Mine was actually super sore after the drugs wore off as it was near the bones/sinews linking to my arm and shoulder so moving my shoulder and upper arm hurt the wound. I wouldn't have been able to drive easily. Also high doses of local aneasthetic kicks off my adrenaline and I often feel faint.
