Age 7 I gave DD1 a half tablet. She takes tablet quite well. I had gotten her the soluble ones for 7+, but she hated them
DD2 woke up with an ear ache lastnight and wouldn't settle. I had no kids panadol so had to half a tablet and give her that.
When did you first give your child a tablet rather than Children's Panadol?

The recommended dose of paracetamol is 15mg per kg of body weight. So, if your DD weighs 20kg (about average for a 5 year old) she would need 20kg x 15mg = 300mg. A Panadol tablet contains 500mg of paracetamol. Half a tablet is pretty spot on for dosage with a margin for error if you don't split it accurately.
Which doesn't answer your question at all! My DD1 is 9, but she still can't manage tablets.![]()
Two I think. But he weighed nearly 18 kgs and wouldn't take liquid medicine. He still won't. Half a tablet in Milo works well.
7 or 8. So much easier, but mine don't do tablets. DD1 has a full capsule, DD2 will usually still have the syrup, unless I'm out.
DD is 10 and I still haven't - might have to try it, she hates the kids tablets. Can't say I blame her when she has to eat 4 of the stupid things to get the right dose and she says they taste horrible. We went back to the liquid as she can drink that in one gulp then chase it with some milo or something.
Thats pretty much what I wanted to know as well
Thanks!
DD1 is 6 and still can't swallow tablets but we discovered that DD1 can when we started giving them the kids fish oil tablets. Thats why I decided to try giving her the pandol.
She did chew a bit of it so I don't suspect she got that much but it worked. She fell back asleep not long after I started lymphatic massage on the sore ear.
