    Unsettled baby!

I have a gorgeous 10 week old baby who has dropped her early morning feed about 2 weeks ago. My only problem is that she is stirring about 4.30am but not for a feed. She just starts coming out of her deep sleep and starts wiggling like crazy and grunting which wakes her and keeps her awake and me. It carries on until we get up or I put her on the pillow next to me after hubby has gone to work then shes out!!!!!!!
Is she needing more milk at her last feed at night as she could keep drinking even after the bottle is empty?
    Or ???????
Eeek help please a tad tired and out of ideas lol!

Is she waking up unhappy or is just wriggling and making noise?

When my DS is stirring in the mornings he starts making little grunts and squeaks, hes not unhappy just waking up. If hes hungry he will let me know otherwise he just plays until i wake up. Is that what she is doing?

Is it possible she is grunting and wriggling because she is uncomfortable? (eg wind or reflux?) and that might be why she stops once moved?

I've noticed my 4 week old does the same, stirs, wriggles, grunts and sometimes let's out a whingy cry, but after a couple minutes goes back to sleep. If he starts fully crying or screaming I offer boob

Might be working through some digestive/tummy issues perhaps? Wind could be the culprit. Maybe try picking her up for a burp or bicycle her little legs.

When my DD was a newbie we called 4:00-6:00am 'The Gruntening'. She grunted, snorted, snuffled and wiggled at the same time every day - usually followed by a poosplosion a bit later.

    unsettled baby

Littlemisssummer-she wiggles and grunts for at least a couple of hours or more eek lol! Shes doesnt play she sounds like she starts to get frustrated!
We have had to raise her bassinett mattress since she was born as she would fuss almost all night so could possibly be a wind issue. Might try burping her and see how we go.
Thanks sooooooooo much for the help ladies i now have a couple more things to try!

I've heard 4am us the coldest part if the night. Stirring at this time could mean bubba is cold. Maybe and extra blanket before you go to sleep?

Hmmm ok I will try an extra blanket I always worry she will cook though lol.
Please someone tell me its going to end and soon far out lol!
I had to get up to her about 4 or 5 times this morning argh and i did try to burp her and bicycle legs but no wind. I am going to try offering her more milk tonight as her last feed and seeing how she goes.

Good luck! My DS was waking at 4-4.30 each night and feeding. The last couple of nights I doubled over one of his blankets - so effectively an extra blanket and he slept thru till 6am. So now he is swaddled and has 4 blankets on! He doesn't feel hot and the room is around 20-22 degrees, I think they are hard to cook lol. I also give him a feed at around 10pm before I go to bed. In saying all of that, I tried all the same things for DD 2 years ago and none of it helped
I hope you have a better night.

It's can be hard to work out how many layers to on them . DD was cold last night at one stage but the new SIDS reccomendation is that your baby had the same layers if clothing/ blankets as you.

I would think that more clothing is better then blankets. But all mine have hated blankets. And the baby now is doing my head in with her blanket refusal.

Hope you have a good night tonight

If you use a dummy popping it back in when she wriggles might help. I bed-share with DD and when she wriggles and grunts I put her back on my boob which almost always settles her but I'm pretty sure a lot of it is comfort sucking not feeding.

Thankfully she does have a dummy and she settles down again but i am up doing that at least 3 times or more lol! So i seriously hope it ends soon!
