    Rice cookers?

I have recently bought a rice cooker (reputable brand - sunbeam I think) but when I use it, the rice sticks to the bottom and starts to go burnt looking I've followed the instructions in the manual and apparently I don't have to set a timer or temp, just flick the button and it cooks until it sets itself to warm. What am I doing wrong???? it's been brown rice both times I've used it and that's the main reason I convinced DH to buy one as brown rice takes longer to cook.

    Rice cookers?

Maybe you need to add more water at the start? Ours is a Sunbeam I think.

We have the same brand. It's our second one. Our first one was great, never stuck until DH cleaned it with a scourer and killed the bottom. This one sticks a lot too. I try to reduce it a bit by adding a bit of extra water. I was actually saying to DH the other day that I wonder if its lost some of its non- stickiness due to going in the dishwasher (we didn't put the old one in). Have you put yours in (just out of interest for my own theory).

    Rice cookers?

No dishwasher here apart from me & DH don't own a metal scourer either but haven't needed to use it either as a short soak gets off the stuck rice

I've always had a similar problem with ours and while I always have rice stuck to the bottom I seem to only get the brown burnt rice if I leave it in the keep warm position for to long. I generally turn ours of and use it as soon as it switches from Cook to keep warm. This has stopped that problem for me.

We do the same as Melbourne mumma and flick it off at the power point once it goes from cook to warm. Seems to stop te bulk if the "burnt" rice ok the bottom.

    Rice cookers?

Problem is that it's going brown while it's still cooking :'( if I've noticed it starting, I've stirred it and that reduces it but doesn't stop it

I add more water than the instructions say, and take the container out as soon as it finishes. I often transfer rice at that point too or else I get more sticking.

    Rice cookers?

I use double the amount of water as rice too. Two cups water for one cup rice.
