IT has been 10 years since I was there, but we did an around the island tour.. Took 1/2 a day, but really opened my eyes to how some others have to live..
Also, we tagged along on a dive tour to do some snorkelling.. That was fun!
We are heading there on Wednesday. Just the two of us for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Staying in Port Vila. Any tips for good day trips, resturants, places to go? Also how easy is it to get cash out?
TIA

Food and drinks are the same price as in Aus (so be prepared!) and quality varied a lot. We found that the more "western" dishes were fairly average but more authentic meals tasted better.
Boat trip is a good idea. We also enjoyed a drive-yourself buggy tour of the island.
Do pack meds for vomiting/diarrhea just in case, both hubby and myself got it during our trip.
It is an exquisite set of islands. Look up the island espiritu santo for gorgeous day trips off the island (luganville is the main town there) - it has beautiful kayak tours and boat tours through the tiny islands and in beautiful lagoons. We stayed on Bokissa Island, near espiritu santu, and I think they run day trips to or from there if you're not actually staying there, but check. Either way there's heaps of breathtaking water based activities and tours in that region. We also went to Tanna - an active volcano island. We stayed in Port Villa a couple of days before Bokissa and booked a day trip from there- you take a small plane then a rough car ride - if you're up for going to the edge of a volcano!
Oh and also from Port Villa you can take an amazing helicopter ride over the islands, and one of the options is a romantic picnic on the same island beach that Survivor was filmed on. The food, champagne etc is provided.![]()
When we went we did a few trips. We went to some sort of 'zoo' or animal park (can't remember what it was called), we went to an island close-by that just a local taxi can take you to (their taxis were mini buses that basically you get on, say where you wanted to go, and they drop you off in the order you got on, unless where you're going is on the way to where someone else I the bus was going), we went horse riding (the first time for DH) and we also went on a tour to a village and looked around their island.
Are you really lilima??? Me and the whole brood are going across on Thursday!!!! LOL
Where are you staying? If you don't mind saying.
Edit- so exciting that I forgot to answer your questions. Cash really easy to get out, there's an ANZ on the Main Street.
It's quite underdeveloped... Be prepared. No maccas, only one supermarket. But so lovely. The Ni-vans are lovely.
Go across to Iririrkki and have a meal up at the restaurant on the top of the hill, and a ****tail or twoGreat views.
Go to Erakor Island and have a meal overlooking the water. Lovely.
Edit again- I said lovely three times. I really like Vanuatu![]()
I love Vanuatu! I love that it's undeveloped and not completely touristy and westernized. It's a true natural beauty.
I didn't get to reply here before we left, but we are back!
Had a lovely relaxing time- and who did I run into? OceanPrincess and her family!
Glad you had a nice holiday!
We are tossing up whether to go here next year or back to Fiji.
Love that you guys bumped into each other!![]()
Ali we much preferred Vanuatu over Fiji. Different vibe all together.
And lol, mum2, not quite! I was actually watching my DD as we were swimming and this woman swam up to us and said "OP, right? I recognise your DD!"
I was the one standing behind a tree when I recognised her and her DD! So I swam over and said hi! Your DD is adorable OP!
Aw thanks hun! Did you see the photos on FB of when I took the braids out? She was rocking an 80s 'do!
