Exclamation Help with blister on nipple

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I can get rid of a blister thing that I have on my nipple (well it is more on the areola next to my nipple) I have had it for over 3 weeks now, and it is just getting bigger and sorer. It is a very big red area about the size now of a 50 cent piece. I have been to my GP who said it could be thrush related, so did the Dactarin thing, but that didnt help. I used a nipple shield for a while just more for pain releif for anything, and am using Lansinoh to try to give it a layer of protection to lessen the pain IYKWIM. There are no white spots on it, and there doesnt look like there is anyhthing under the surface, it is just very red and angry looking. It is also the side that my DS prefers, so no hope of giving up that side for a bit, as otherwise he would probably give up feeding, and it is too early, especially as we havent started solids yet. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I think I would go back to the dr (or another dr) for another opinion. You really need to have it diagnosed and treated! There is an oinment drs sometimes prescribe called Kennacombe which has a 3 way action - steroid, antifungal and antibacterial. Many mums have found this useful.
Not sure how old your baby is now - is he irritating the blister when he feeds? Have you tried another position - ie football hold if you use the normal position, or vice-versa?
Let us know how you get on

    Regards
    Barb

Went back to the doctor today, she was really apologetic that it hasn't cleared up with the dactarin. She told me to try Hydrozole, and just to wipe off with a salt water wash before feeds. Is this similar to Kennacombe?

DS is 6 months old, and he doesnt seem to be irritating it when he feeds. He used to only feed in the football hold, but now will only feed in the cradle hold ( I know, fussy little mite isnt he!!) so I cant really change positions.
