Angelcare monitor - quick question

Hi all,

Didn't want to hijack the baby monitor thread, but for those who said they had this monitor, do you have it in a cot or in a bassinet? I am about to move bub to the cot and am wondering if I need to adjust the sensitivity dial for the movement sensor, when the manufacturers instructions say not to. If so, what number do you have yours on with a cot mattress?

Also - is this me, or is this a design fault...scenario is:
1. the alarm is on, with the movement sensor active
2. bub wakes up in night - I go in (stumble in with eyes still closed, more like)
3. if she can't be calmed in her cot, I pick her up
4. as she's not in there I switch off base monitor so that movement sensor doesn't go off
5. parent's room unit then emits loud crackling and I have to peg it back to switch off.

I know that the easy answer is to switch off parents unit before I go, but it's the middle of the night and I always forget. Is there any other way around this??!

I dont know if there is a way around the feedback when you dont turn the parent unit off first! I had to get used to turnig it off before going into DS! Its a pain though!
i cant help you with the sensitivity cause DH did it all for me sorry!

I don't think there is a way around it, unfortunately. You will start remembering to turn it off, trust me, I've done this plenty of times!
I'm another who needs to know about the sensitivity. Nina was playing with it the other day, and adjusted it, but now we don't know what setting it should be on.

Jodi - the sensitivity as set by the manufacturers is 3.

Boomba - is there a chance you could look at your baby room unit and see what your DH has set it to? Would be very grateful!

Do you have the new or old Angelcare?

the new one the feedback noise stops after maybe 10-20 seconds

we have adjusted the sensitivity?? why are you not meant to??

I'm not an expert, but I think that if you make it too sensitive then it will detect other movement - breeze, curtains, people just outside the room or inside the room etc, instead of the baby's breathing and so you could have a false sense of security. If not sensitive enough then it will be going off all the time and giving you all kinds of shocks!
